This one is new on me, and so far everything I can think of to check for a cause is coming up ok... A few times lately, I've been at various points in FS and the whole computer simply dies: black screen, no lights, just the sounds of the CD drive and the fans spinning down. This is an older computer that I have run FS on forever, but it just started doing this within the past week. I can't seem to get it to replicate, and I've even done things to try and push the computer to see if it's a heat issue (think running up and down the East and Hudson rivers at 400 KIAS in a 738). Any ideas are appreciated, but it looks like I may be headed back to laptop flying... And yes, I know this computer is old and not the best for FS, but I set it just where I want it, get 15-25 FPS and it works for me. I just don't have the cash laying around for a new computer for FS right this second.
Specs of system in question:
eMachines T3985
Windows XP Professional SP3, all updates up to date
Intel Celeron D 2.93 GHz
Intel 865GV Integrated Graphics
512 MB DDR 333 ram
~140 GB HD space internal, 160 GB external
Aftermarket CPU cooler and fan, used good HT compound when installed (old one blew a bearing)
The only programs I usually have running are:
iTunes (sometimes)
ACARS
FS2004
Sprint SmartView (mobile internet connection manager)
