I bought a new machine with Vista 64 on it, and I have had problems running FS9 on it. I know that FS9 is not a 64 bit program, but some of my other games, such as "Call Of Duty 2" run just fine on it. Is there some trick that I need to know to run it properly? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The PMDG 737-800 started going haywire in mid-flight (was running DVA Acars and ASv6.5 with it), and the PSS 757 will not load properly. Was having no problems with FS9 on my XP machine.

In Vista 64, all non-64-bit programs get stuffed into the c:\Program Files (x86)\ folder by default. This is one of the "protected" folders that Vista uses to prevent malware and trojans from modifying system files. When you run things from there the OS virtualizes the files before running them (runs it from a temp folder in your user area) and this can sometimes make things squirrely.
To make sure WinXP programs are running as best as possible in Vista (both 32 and 64 bit), do not install under Program Files or Program Files (x86). Create a seperate folder elsewhere and install it there. Then set all executables in the new folder to "Run as Administrator". If you have not turned off UAC (I personally recommend that you leave it enabled), you can set the executables to "Run as Administrator" by right-clicking the executable and then clicking on the Compatability tab, then checking the Run as Administrator checkbox. If you've turned off UAC, then that checkbox is greyed out and you'll have to remember to manually run it as Administrator every time you run the program.

Lawrence, you say to not install into either of the Program files folders. So what you are saying is to go ahead and load FS9 into it's own file under C: and it should work? I understand about the "Run as admin" stuff, and had FS9 and all my add-ons running as admin, so I couldn't understand why I was having problems.

I run XP X64, it has the same directory structure, and have both PMDG 737 and PSS 757.
I have the sim installed into Program Files (x86) and have not had any issues.
The only quirks that I've seen and wondered if it was some 32 bit emulation issue was
RC4, it inexplicably gives me wild vectors, I've bascially stopped using it for now, the
voices drive me nuts too
I am flying the PMDG as I post this and no issues.
