I swear, getting everything back together after my crash has me seeing download bars in my sleep!!!! I R Gonna go NUTZ!!!!! (The crash took out my external drive as it was connected at the time!) GAK! And wat caused me to have to do this??
FS (CENSORED!!) X!!!!
I know my Socket 939 with the +4200 dual core, 2GB OCX Platinum, BFG 7950GT, and SB Audigy SE is not high end, but after installing SP2 for FSX the whole system became unstable.
*WARNING*
nVidia GPU users
FSX SP2 will break compatibility with some Series 7 cards.
I have been messing around with gaming PC's since 1988, and I cant remember the last time a patch did what SP2 does...What is weird about it, is seems totally random, as the ASUS 7950GT seems totally unaffected by SP2.
This reinstallation has me nearly BALD!!!!
Just thought Id share in the fun...

Uh... take a break man, go bowling or something
Took me 3 days to re-install FS9 the last time, but you'll go bald trying to get it done fast...

Today is the fifth day in the saga...ahh, to err is human, to really screw things up requires a computer.

I had this happen in March ( PC crash) I had to reformat and reinstall everything. It was a nightmare tracking things down. Thank god for Flight 1's customer service. It made a already nightmare task somewhat manageable. Oh that and Dan Everette helping me . I now have all my add on software ( most anyways) on my laptop. My pc crashed again a week or 2 later. I bought a new pc one and reinstalled almost everything. I now have my downloads backed up at least. I should really do the image backup. Dan has suggested this many times (even before the crashes) but I just don't listen DOH!

Boy, Brian, I feel your pain. It's taken me three days off and on but I'm finally about 99% back up with FS2004. I was fortunate in that I was able to pull the drive out of my old computer and install it as a second drive in this new one, so I could copy some things over that I otherwise couldn't reinstall. But generally, it's been a very long cycle of downloading, installing, tweaking, downloading, installing, troubleshooting, looking through old emails for order numbers and activation keys, installing, downloading...
