I clicked "ok" to install an ActiveX control without verifying it first (like an idiot!) and I got all kinds of trojans and other spy/adware infections. McAfee cleaned up most of it without too much trouble but now I can't open internet explorer without this thing having changed my homepage to protecthomepage.com, which SiteAdvisor says is a malicious site. Does anyone know how to get rid of this thing? I've uninstalled and reinstalled IE7 multiple times and it's still there each time. I don't know where to go from here because I've already ran another full system scan and everything comes up clean now.
Any help is appreciated!

I had something similar happen a year or so back. Spyware Doctor took care of it. Brian's right though. Stick to Firefox.

Troy using NOD32 as well. I had McAfee and It hogged resources, and I had tons of connection problems with VATSIM.

NOD32 is great for virus infections. I haven't had much luck with it when it comes to spyware though. I thought Zone Alarm was strictly a firewall application?

I use "Spy-Bot Search & Destroy". It's a great program and is free. Plus I also use Firefox.
