First of all, if you want to work through it from the beginning, make sure you go into the Wilco Configurator and select "cold and dark" for the panel.
Here's how I do it in the FS2004 version. This may not be the "correct" way to do it, but it works. Assuming a completely cold and dark panel:
1. Battery ON.
2. Beacon and Nav lights ON.
3. Fuel pumps ON. (Not sure about this part but I do it anyway.)
4. APU master switch to START, then release to ON. Listen for the (unrealistically loud) APU sound and watch for the gauges to come alive.
5. When APU is stabilized and running, APU generator switch(es?) to ON. Listen for the "pop" sound, and your FMC and panel should now be active.
When ready for engine start:
6. Verify both packs OFF, engine bleeds ON, APU bleed ON. Verify that you have pneumatic pressure for start. Verify throttles at idle.
7. Begin pushback.
8. #1 engine start switch to GND. Verify N2 rotation.
9. At maximum N2 rotation (around 22%), fuel switch on the throttle pedestal to RUN. Engine should light off. Start switch should snap back.
10. Repeat #8 and #9 for engine #2.
11. Engine generators ON. Listen for the "pop" again, and the APU generator should be knocked offline.
Now this is from memory, and the last time I flew it was several months ago. But I hope this helps anyway.
