maybe, but only if you currently have an onboard vid card.
the 8400 isnt really that great of a card at the best of times. if money's an issue, i would recommend getting the 8600 gt, they sell for under $100 nowadays. if money isnt an issue, then get a new pc.
as has been said before, FS is cpu bound, so a video card upgrade won't show you a huge performance increase. you will, however, be able to turn on some of the gpu-based eye candy in FS such as texture size.

just to throw my 2c in there. Just echoing Octavian on the 8400 that it's really not a great graphics card at all and comes in below some of the 6 series cards. The 8600GT is a good choice for the $$, make sure that it's got DDR3 and not DDR2 memory. If you can afford more and aren't going to be going DX10 grab the 7900GS.
The RAM will defiantly help.

Do you think getting 2 GB od RAM and not getting the vid card would be better than getting the vid card and 1 GB of RAM? Will RAM improve graphics and framerates?
Thanks for the help guys.

With FS9 And FSX I think you all need to read this, http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1208959973/34#34 Funny yet very informitive, FS is not about frame rates, take your 500FPS and forget about it, Set your sliders to the ability of the machine, You want to run full sliders, get a machine that can run it that way. Beauty is in the eye not the numbers

That's a great link Anthony, thanks for posting anthony, and I agree that that it's not all about fps... well at least after like 15 or so.
Shane, fs needs a well rounded system so I would get 1 gb of ram and a graphics card. 2GB total will be fine for fs9. Your greatest hinderance right now is your onboard video. After that grabbing another gig or ram will help a lot too.

lol, beauty is in the eye, but when everything u see is blurry, it makes it kinda hard to call beautiful.
i splurged on a fast pc and im not looking back. i did have to save a lot and sacrifice some things, but im running everything maxed with 60fps (FS9). my fps maxes out at 200 inflight and doesnt go below 30 on the ground in really dense environments
PS Shane, upgrade the cpu before anything else. and as long as you're upgrading the cpu, upgrade the motherboard as well.
