Hey guys, was given a new computer and installed FS9 on it. The frame rates site at around 4ps with the default planes and scenery. i tried low and ultra high display settings but it so low. its a P4 3.06Ghz (Dual core i think, it has two CPU's in the performace tab in the task manager), 1.5GB ram, & 128MB ATI Radeon 9550 Sapphire. My previous computer was a Dell 1.8 Ghz P4, 1GB ram and 128MB Nividia GeForce 4 Ti, and i was getting around 18-25fs with loads of ac and aerosoft, fly tampa and sim wings addons.

with 128MB on it - that is slow - maybe you can add mem to the card to at least get it up to 256
Do you have the latest Driver for it?

Why not pull your old card out and put it in the new computer. If it worked so well (better) than this new one?

What OS are you running, and are you running full-screen or windowed? If you are running windowed, try setting your taskbar to auto-hide. That helped my frames tremendously for some reason.

Pausing FS will increase your frame rates because once it is done processing the current image - it doesn't have to process as much. If you are in Pause and go to external view and rotate the view - you'll see the change in FPS when looking towards the sky and moving to looking at the ground

First off it's a Pentium 4 single core with Hyper Threading which works by duplicating certain sections of the processor—those that store the architectural state—but not duplicating the main execution resources. This allows a Hyper-Threading equipped processor to pretend to be two "logical" processors to the host operating system, allowing the operating system to schedule two threads or processes simultaneously. Second both cards are ancient, and 1.5GB is low on memory side. You switched from Nvidia to ATI, which probably means the old Nvidia drivers are still lingering around. Use a program called driver cleaner and wipe out all nvidia stuff first then install ATI drivers. http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745 I am sure the problem is with the switch between card manufacturers. If it is a computer that was given to you already having the ATI card installed then the problem is caued by something other than driver issue, but check anyways.
