Hi Everyone -
I am running an AMD X2 Dual Core 4800 with one gig of ram and an Nvidia GeForce 7600 card.
I have had no problems running FS2004 with framerates locked at 20.... However, today whenver I taxi out and get to the end of the runway - It starts dropping to 15 and then eventually down to 1 fps and it basically just locks up..
Any ideas what might be causing this?
Thanks!

i see by ur specs, that your computer is okay, not good tho, however u may need to upgrade your video card, and if u fly on vatsim, and if theres a lot of traffic, that might be the cause of the low FPS

I have had a simular problem. Mine was just one day it started to go slow and from then on it has always been slower (10-16FPS) I have Defraged and even reformatted the entire computer also have smaller cloud texture file size and still have to drop my sliders back. Beats me why this happend. But at least mine doesnt lock up. Sorry I dont know what to do either.

Alright - thanks guys - I actually built this computer to run FS2004 and it has done very very well - I don't fly on Vatsim.

Make sure that you're not running other (a lot) background programs or antivirus. Shut down what is not needed.
It's not normal with a computer like yours to get as low as one frame per second.

There is one thing I did that seemed to help a little. Try the Disk Cleanup.

Thanks guys - what's strange is I haven't changed anything.... And on initial startup and taxi everything is fine. I have always had my AV running in the background. I did try to defrag - but still nothing seems to help.

Sounds like your system is overheating. Try cleaning it out.
