Just got a new card last night, since the integrated graphics started going south (look up "intel video infinite loop" on Google to get the idea). So the wife told me to go get a new card. So, I got a BFG Tech Nvidia GeForce 6200 OC. I've tried moving the sliders around in FS2004 and I can get some smoking frame rates in the 50-60's, but some of my sceneries (KATL w/WoAI traffic, namely) still bring me down to the single digits. Any advice on how to get things evened out? I'm going to play with it some more to see if it is just a scenery issue, but I don't know if I am missing something in the settings.

Rest of the system looks like this...
Intel Celeron D 2.93 Ghz
512 MB ram (I've got virtual memory turned on on each hard drive with 1GB each minimum per drive)
I know something may have to give with this card, and I may not be able to max everything out. I couldn't before, so I may not really notice the difference. Last night my flight got me an average of 14-20fps on outside view, 20-25fps on cockpit views in the Fleet ERJ-170. ATL is the only place that has really given me much of a problem, so I may try disabling that scenery.
I did download nHancer and got an update for the Nvidia driver that actually allows me to tweak the core and memory core speeds of the card, and I may go a little higher on those. The card came with a heat sink and fan built onto the card, and I have three fans on the case (one front, one on the back, and one on the side above the processor). I guess I may just have to tweak, fly, repeat.

The processor is sufficient enough for FS, The graphics card will work since fs isnt to
much gpu dependent, But I would recommend you upgrade your ram.
You'll see a huge improvement in your frame rates. I went from 768mb, with a single core
2.4ghz processor, integrated graphics, to 2gb and a nvidia 8500gt. And I have frame rates
never dropping under 20, most sliders maxed out, and my FS never crashes to desktop.
I'm guessing that happens when you run out of ram. I can also run firefox, acars, activesky,
fsbuild, itunes, and servinfo while flying. Impossible with my old ram cause it would run
out of memory, freeze, then crash FS if I was under (believe it or not) 20,000 feet.
