Very interesting and not a document one would come across every day.
Many thanks for sharing this, an enjoyable read.

That's neat stuff. I wonder how much of that is applicable in FS, hmm.
BTW, Michael, you probably already found this, but on www.boeing-727.com, there's a long-range cruise fuel planner for the 727-200 with JT8D-15s. It shows the optimum cruise altitudes and Mach numbers at various gross weights...very handy considering that we don't have access to the PMS data that those TWA pilots did.
Thanks!

Yep, did find that and I use it for step climbs on longer flights with more fuel aboard...thanks though. I use it to adjust my indicted M# against fuel weight and burn, etc.
Most of the supplemental information for the B722 POH that I sent to Matt Creed is from the same site, and I have no way to ask the man if we can use it. He has eliminated his e-mail contact because of spam, so I hope he doesn't mind if if we use it for a 'V' airline. There is no notice of a copywrite infringement if it is re-produced that I saw.
Most of it should be common knowledge for a flight manual even though he wrote the site. There are a lot of little interesting perspectives though, from a man who worked on these planes for 20 years...many from an engineering and maintenance perspective, and some from a pilot's perspective that he's spoken with over the years.
If the questions that I provided, and will provide for subsequent systems, and if any of this information is accepted, is used on the FO or Captains exams, we will have a very qualified crew to fly the B727.
I think that though this is a Virtual Airline where you are supposed to have fun, many will find this information to be overkill on systems knowledge to operate this aircraft. Some, like me, will not think it's enough to qualify a crew. So a medium will have to be struck somewhere for a Flight Standard between having fun and actually knowing something about what the hell you are flying.
My last airline in GB did not fly the 727, and if they would have flown the Trident, I would have never joined. But that did not keep me from digging up facts and figures on the B722 over the years. After all, it is my favorite airliner.

I'm afraid that I'm not at all familiar with it, or the British Trident.
There's too much information to absorb on the B722 to study another three-holer.

IGfly supposedly has a pretty good payware Tu-154. From the panel shots I've seen, it makes the 727 look like it's got a glass cockpit! It's also got triple-bogey gear like the 777, which look weird...is it bigger than a 727?

yes it is bigger than the 727, and you can use shorter runways. there is by the way an verry good TU-154B freeware package on AVSIM, realy worth the download.
