I have fsx and just loaded sp1. Now I can not get fsx to boot up. I have windows xp and a 8600 video card. I just bought xpax and it says it won't work without sp1. Can someone please tell me what to do.

It is recommended that SP1 is installed on a fresh install of FSX. If you had addons already loaded into FSX prior to SP1 conflicts can occur.

The likely solution to get things running again will be to uninstall FSX then reinstall FSX and then SP1 before loading any addons.
Good Luck!

You should also install SP2 to have the latest performance/compatibility fixes. I recommend running FSX at least one time between the installation of SP1 and SP2.

Scott, I"ve had the same problems with SP1. It will open the splash screen, then disappear and that's it. I've tried it all sorts of ways (the installation, that is) and can't get it to work. If you do get it to work, please let me know!

I'm not (using XP). I haven't tried to install SP1 lately, maybe I'll try again when I have a few free hours some time.

If FSX doesn't start normally, I'd try deleting the FSX.CFG (or at least moving it out of the directory it's in) and starting the sim again.
Cheers!
