Hello chaps
I'm part of the 727 program... I joined it because the 727 is pretty much the most challenging jet we fly. In FS9, I used the dreamfleet version, but I've just up graded (if thats the right word!) to FSX (in vista - YUK) and there is a notable lack of FSX 727's available. Dreamfleet are promising an FSX version, but if we see it this year I'll eat me hat; Captain sim have released a model, but not a panel (yet); and the only freeware model I've found has a really unrealistic panel - when did they retro-fit a fancy autopilot? Even our fleet model is FS9 only. So... a) can we expect an FSX conversion of the fleet model any time soon? or b) would it be feasible for me to convert the FS9 model to FSX myself? In the meantime, I guess I'll have to fall back on the 757/767... at least I'll be able to catch up on me sleep!
Best Regards

Andrew,
Unfortunately you are correct regarding the lack of realistic 727 aircraft/panels available in FSX. The freeware Vistaliner 727 package works well in FSX and provides several liveries but unfortunately I have not come across a decent panel yet. The current fleet 727 is not compatible with FSX and there are no plans to convert it at this time. If you have the skills to convert the fleet panel to FSX I strongly would recommend it. Sorry the news is not more encouraging at this time as you mentioned we can only hope that the Dreamfleet 727 is released for FSX.

I am currently working on a panel for FSX from the FS9 fleet panel. All the guages have to be rewritten and compiled with the FSX SDK. (luckily I can use the bitmaps from the original gauges) I have been working on this in my free time so it may be a while before it is ready. There is a freeware 727 panel available, which although is not as realistic as the fleet panel it will get you up and flying. Check here http://www.flightsimulatorx.it/download/pannelli.php?ricerca=Pannello%202D%20Boeing%20727&adv=no for the panel.

Andrew, I feel like you do. FSX is pretty and all, but the 727s are pretty lame. I have tried, some look good but panels stink, tracking VOR's is really unrealistic. I have resigned myself to use the DF and fly only FS9 for my 727 fix. I am finding FSX more and more of a pain to fly in than it is worth. Great program for GA flying, but I haven't found much use in commercial flight. Others will disagree I am sure.
Ron, good luck on the panel reconstruction. Look forward to testing yours as well.

David, I absolutely agree. I am having all kinds of trouble with FSX and commercial add ons in vista....they are pain to install...then you have to worry about file and folder security settings...then you have to worry about conflicts between FSX joystick axis and button assignments and FSUIPC - some use FSX settings some prefer FSUIPC, but if you have the same button or axis configured in both things don't work properly...I bought a new PC with a better graphics card (NVIDIA 9300/256) 3 gig of RAM, quad core dual intel processors clocking at 2.4 Ghz.... a saitek pro yoke and all the commercial addon aircraft I can find - Super 80 pro, wilco feelthere 737/3/4/500, their entire airbus fleet, wilco EMB170/190, capt sim 757 pro, and the Level D 763 ER. the ONLY one that works as it should is the level D. Some have control issues, some have FMC issues, some have both...the scenery available is... well there aint much available and what there is is SLOW. Then on top of ALL that... my beloved DF 727 don't work and worse, neither does my David Maltby Trident, or Rick Pipers gorgeous HS748. All in all I feel pretty cheated....
OK...rant over... I feel better now... I've got a terabyte hard drive... so maybe I'll install FS9 aswell...will it work in vista home premium?
Ron, thans for the tip... anythings better than nowt, I suppose.
Incidentally David... what sort of cover do we get from dispatch? I mean in terms of from/to hours? I live in the UK, so get home from work at your lunchtime...for our pilots that fly during the day (US time) maybe I could help out?
Best Regards, Drew

Andrew,
Why not just fly the 727 in FS9 , until something is available. I fly both FS9 and FSX depending on the equipment. Just an idea.
