Now that Mother Justice has spoken and NWA is now officially part of DAL, can we expect (hope) to see a cargo division or some freighter flights here at DVA? (I ask hopefully as a freight dawg at heart).
FYI: NWA Cargo flies 15 dedicated 747-400 freighters.
From Wikipedia (as of Nov 3, 2008): 2006, NWA Cargo is the largest cargo carrier among U.S. combination passenger and cargo airlines. NWA Cargo’s fleet of 15 dedicated Boeing 747 freighter aircraft fly from key cities throughout the United States and Asia and connect the carrier’s cargo hub in Anchorage, Alaska (Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport), facilitating the quick transfer of cargo between large cities on both sides of the Pacific. NWA Cargo also transports freight aboard the passenger fleet of Northwest Airlines to more than 250 cities worldwide.
As of early 2008, NWA's largest cargo client is DHL International. In December 2007, NWA announced that DHL International would terminate its cargo agreement with the airline effective late 2008. According to NWA Chief Financial Officer Dave Davis, the loss of its largest cargo client will bring significant changes to the division.
NWA Cargo serves airports and routes not served by the passenger operation — the only U.S. carrier to maintain a separate fleet and route network exclusively for cargo. Such cargo-only cities on NWA's route map include Wilmington, Ohio, and cargo only routes include Chicago, Illinois to Anchorage, Alaska.

I did a dry-run import of the entire NW schedule just now, to see what things will look like later this week. (Yes, we will be including the *ENTIRE* NW schedule starting some time this week.) I see 43 744 flights, with an interesting number in the 901-910 range with lots of stops.
Anyone with NW schedule knowledge want to chime in, if these are the cargo flights?
Cheers!

Hey, Luke, I just looked up NW901 on our system here and it's a 744F operating ORD/ANC/NRT/ICN. Flights 902-910 are NOOP... at least for today, but I would imagine those are cargo flights.

Looks like I stand corrected. The 744s are pax and the 742s are the freighters.
From the NWA corp website: Pax 744s: 16; Cargo 742s: 11 (as of June 2008)

If the 9xx flights are cargo, then I think we're in good shape to include them later this week. I have no plans to create a special flag in the schedule for cargo (especially with a quote like "the loss of its largest cargo client will bring significant changes to the division") but the flights will be there.
Cheers!

I'm not sure where the NWA Cargo B747-400F factoid came from but I'm pretty sure that they operate only B747-200F's. The NWA site lists them as B74F so maybe that's where the confusion is coming from.
Note that the 9xx flights came through on the schedule import as B744's but on FlightAware these are showing as B742's (examples: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/NWA906 & http://flightaware.com/live/flight/NWA908 ). Maybe these were manually set in the db, Luke?

I'm all for flying some cargo flights out of ANC. With the loss of DHL though, we will probably lose almost all of the flights out of Wilmington. Delta is supposedly, finally coming along and realizing the benefits of the cargo side of things (new cargo area in ATL), so hopefully they will maintain a cargo division with dedicated aircraft. Other airlines do.
It doesn't make too much of a difference in our schedule, whether they are listed as 744 or 742. They can be flown with any capable aircraft.

Yeah, Trevor, when I looked in our PARS system for the 9xx flights it was listed as a 74F and I thought when I was in NRT I saw one or two 744F for NWA, but I was apparently wrong. Sorry for the confusion.

You're welcome, Amanti.
For Augusto, I take Luke's announcement to mean that all NWA cargo flights are now available for selection to those holding a 747 rating. It is treated like all other flights and there is no distinction that it is a cargo flight. The NWA9XXs are the cargo flights from what I am able to determine. Check the r/w NWA website for their cargo schedule (link above) for comparison to what the DVA schedule contains..

That's what I summize Rick. The flights are there to fly but there won't be any "red flags" if you will, stating that it's a cargo flight. But we all know that it is. So if your thing's cargo, download the 742 and start flyng those routes!
