Sorry to repeat this thread but it may affect other users of FSInn in conjunction with AVG Anit-Virus software. The original issue was posted several days ago under the following thread:
http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x11aa5
Suffice to say, after many experiments, working through the AVG diangostic interface with their tech support, and last but not least, consulting with the FSInn guru (a.k.a Andy Kaufmann) we have isolated the problem (as also previously touched on). AVG's latest install of AVG8.0 has a new build (Build 199, dated 10/29/2008) which has somehow managed to lock out the FSInn multiplayer interface through lobby launch. Despite efforts to add the FSInn .exe files to the exceptions list, the block remained. Tech support then recommended disabling of the "Resident Shield" component. This failed to resolve the issue and continued to block visual acquisition of other planes on the VATSIM network. As a last resort, we similarly rolled back to the previous version (167, dated 9/16/2008) and although I did update the Virus definitions, FSInn is once again connecting properly through the FS9 multi-player lobby, logging into VATSIM, and enabling other aircraft to be seen.
This solved my issues, I hope it will help others who may run into this problem.
As a side note, if you do roll back to the 9/16/08 version, I recommend that you update your virus defs only for now, and turn OFF auto update or you may be back to square one.
