No matter how many times I d frag, run ccleaner, clean the HD I still get frame rate studers going from 35 to 1.2 than back, so you can imagine how fun landings are. I really need help here before I nuke my HD and start all over.
Running XP with a P4 1.8 gig processor.

I'd be running Task Manager along side FS9 to see what is consuming the CPU when your frame rates drop.
Cheers!

I do that but I am not sure what to shut down without causing a system crash.

What's sucking up the CPU? There should be a separate column for % of CPU time.
Cheers!

I'm running NOD32 too, my ekrn.exe will never go above 15,000KB and won't take more than 1 or 2 percent of CPU, except when it's scanning. See if you don't have an automatic scan activated or something like that.

I did a test and it even stops for a second on the default aircraft. I don't want to have to do this but I'm thinking of doing the recovery disk option.

Well after doing a scan, NOD 32 found 2 infected files, I wonder if that could effect performance.

Update, I ran NOD 32 and it found 2 bad files and deleted them, so I'm doing a flight right now and hopefull that was the problem.

stuttering problem solved! I had my graphics card settings on performance setting versus quality, so I just set everything back to default and that seemed to work.
