Hello all... I believe I may have a virus on my pc. When I turn it on and it loads the desktop, none of my icons at the bottom right load and my desktop blinks. What I mean by blinking is every desktop shortcut and other progams blink on and off every 3-5 seconds. I can't open any of my documents. The only things that I've had success in opening were the Internet and Windows media player. I've done scans with my AntiSpyware program and I was also able to download a Malware program called "Comodo Boclean". Both have identified problems with my pc. AntiSpyware "supposedly" removed them and told me to restart. I restart and still have the same problems. Boclean told me that... "58449 trojans are covered in your current BOC427.XVU file:" So I believe that I'm in deep water. My brother was recently on my pc and I believe that maybe he downloaded something or clicked a pop or something.
Do you guys suggest I take this pc to be checked out or is there something I can do from my end?

If you don't have anything important on your PC just do a fresh install of Windows.

That sounds nice.... But I don't have a Windows CD. It came with the pc. When I reboot, I try to select "System Recovery", but it just ignores me and continues regularly
note* when I access the internet, I get the warning on the top of the window. "Too many errors and faults WERE found in your system. Possibly that IT WAS THE RESULT of virus attack.YOU MUST scan your system." and most of the text becomes red.

Who makes the PC? Is it under warranty? Alot of times these PCs have a separate partition or a CD that will restore the system to its factory shipped condition. If not, call tech support and ask for help in restoring your system with a fresh install of Windows.
Other than that, don't know what you tell you on this. Are you sure it is a virus? the number of trjoans/viruses covered sounds to me like how many it checks for, not how many you have. Are you able to browse to the Windows Update site?

try doing a scan in safe mode cause if windows is using the files it wont deleate them, i use spybot search and destroy myself every week i do go in to the settings an select run once on start up then reboot as windows starts it runs a check before anything starts running. i always say once you had a virus or spyware itll neva run the same so you might just be wise to reinstall a fresh copy of windows, hope you manage to get it sorted

btw, if you are getting this "warning" it is probably been hijacked. You may be able to clean it, but nothing is as good as whacking the partition and reloading it from scratch (plus it cleans up OS decay)

This PC is just over 2 years old, with a brand new Hard Drive. I'll have to look for the boxes in which the pc originally came. I'll report what I find in a few minutes.

I recomend that you reinstall the entire Windows system, make another user account for your brother, so he does not download stuff.

Sharing computers is a bad situation in the first place, computer death awaits as your destiny every time.
Save up the money for your own computer so this doesnt happen again.

This "problem" has gotten worse. I can't even open the task manager now. I hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and it says "Admin has disabled Task Manager" which is strange because I am Admin.? Also I can't get the internet to work. I'm on another computer in the house right now. Things have just went downhill every since I tried to reinstall fsx. I'm in the process of getting a new pc built anyway so I'm not stressing over it too much.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Armanti, I've worked on a boss's computer with the same problems, and ended up reinstalling Windows. I managed to get rid of some of the problems by editing the registry and deleting their files, but ended up running into a few that were sort of co-dependent. I'd delete one, and the other would replace it on the next reboot. And everyone is right, separate users is the right way to go, and if your brother is little, make him a restricted user to avoid any more fun like this.

windows partition, that is LOL - and reinstall - then you have a clean system - make sure you start the reinstall from a COLD BOOT - as viruses can survive a warm boot (cold boot means shut it off, then wait a few seconds, then turn it back on again. warm boot is a restart without shutting down the system)

A month ago I started getting "Admin disabled task manager" as well, there is a program you can get off the internet that you can download and run to fix that but I cannot remember the name of it. I ended up reinstalling Windows, if you buy a new copy of Windows it would probably be cheaper than taking your CPU in to get it checked out.
