Delta operates charters on a near daily basis to many locations. A hot topic right now is troop withdrawal from Iraq where 767-300s are being charted by the Air Mobility Command (Air Force). Regular flights occur between Kuwait International to Hahn Aiport in Frankfurt Germany to JFK in New York to air bases in the US (KWI - HHN - JFK - ***). Delta also charters many other events (such as sports teams or politicians) but the troop transfer is the main one Ive seen lately. I, along with many others no doubt, have access to what these flights are (usually in the 9800 number range) and would be happy to supply them if there was a demand and if it could be made DeltaVA approved. What do think? Is it worth the effort?

First of all, I'd love to see this happen. For instance, recently, I know here in Daytona, we had a bunch of the DAL98xx flights come in. We had up to 757's here, which was a nice sight to see. Secondly, to go along with the whole charter flight addition. Has anyone ever considered adding Delta AirElite to the airline? I know it really doesn't go along with the question here, but, I felt it might fight in some way

World Baseball Classic 2009!
I wrote all the flight numbers down but forgot it Delta Chartered at least 8 probably ten of the world baseball teams to the grand tournament in Toronto, Canada. Team USA went on a B752 with flight number DAL9775. Among the teams i remember were Team Venezuela, Team Panama, etc. Most of flights I observed were from places in Florida to CYYZ.

Woooh!! Go Venezuela!! (I love the Baseball.. we have a great team!!) It will be a few out of Orlando to CYYZ... At least Venezuela.. Actually Aaron, not all the games are at Toronto.. the Final game it's in Los Angeles, the group A games are at Tokyo.. The group B games are at Mexico, the group C games are at Toronto and the group D games are in San Juan.. the Elimination round games are in Miami and San Diego.. There will be some Delta charters for those team during March..

Thanks for clarification Augusto. Its obvious the Delta stays active in the charter market. So should Delta VA try to emulate that interesting and exiting facet of business as well? Let the big shots know about it! Thanks for the comments.

Perhaps people are thinking too hard. I have access to the charters Delta flys on a daily basis (i work for Delta Cargo at SLC). No doubt there are others that work reservations/Ramp etc. who would have access via the Delta WEB Vision program or Delta Term program. Piece of cake. All it really is flight numbers and routes. I believe that charters could be a meaningful addition to Delta VA. The real airline flys charters. All the Delta pilots I know and talk to always have great stories to tell of charter flights. Perhaps, charter flights could work like checkride flights. Its no big deal for ACARS staff to add a "CHARTER" button in their program. Then all that would be needed is for the one OK'ing the flight to check the flight to make sure it was valid. Or maybe even including that information in the Remarks section. Then the DVa staff would only need to post the charters for that day. Why would that be so hard?

I know AirElite has lots of different types on their charter certificate, but it wouldn't be a bad thing to start slow and use the default LR45 and maybe have the option of the Citation X (I think WILCO makes it?)
Let's not forget the BBJ is just a 737-700 with the -800 wing and gear.
I'm all for this happening, both the charter and the AirElite!

The University of South Carolina uses the 752 and every once in awhile the 738 for its football team. I've asked for, and gotten permission, to fly these trips on the day they actually took place. I confirmed the flight via FlightAware. If I remember correctly, I asked through the Help Desk or a direct email to one of the DVA management.

I know that a VSOA organization is partnering up with civilian VAs to run charter flights for them. I won't name any names as that might be advertising here, which is against the rules, but i know this military VA would definately be interested in working something out with DVA on that.
