Anyone have any idea why the temp is showing that high? We all know it isn't that warm at FL360... Am I doing something wrong in the pre-flight?
It didn't happen the first few flights in the bird, so it makes me think I've done something through the FMC while getting the flight set up.
The result right now is having to turn off the AT and run the engines in the 110% N1 range to maintain .81.
Thoughts?

Are you using Active Sky Advanced? That program has a tendency to invert temperatures and winds at altitude and create this exact prob.

Lennox, Scott's making a global warming joke.
Sheldon's right--if you're running ASA, there are certain times I've found where it'll produce insanely high barometric pressure readings and bizarre temps aloft. The crazy pressure readings play total havoc with autopilots and cabin pressurization on addons detailed enough to model it, and the temps aloft do what you've described. Try updating to the latest version available from their website.

Unfortunately I'm not running ASA. It's using (from what I can tell) the weather from VATSIM. I tried unselecting the weather in the FSINN weather settings, but to no avail. It would show the correct temp for approximately 90 seconds then revert back to the faulty temp.

Erm, sounds like you might need to solve this problem first. Are you trying to cruise too high for your weight or something? Are you sure you have the aircraft in a clean configuration (gear/flaps/spoilers up)?

Liam, the problem is that the ambient air is too hot.
This is a well-known bug with FSINN weather, if I recall correctly. You may want to look around the VATSIM forums for how to solve it, if there's a way.
Cheers!

Thanks for the steer, Luke! I'll check it out. BTW, would you recommend SB4 instead of FSINN?

If I had to make a suggestion, it's to get ActiveSky - it's about as good a payware program as you can get.
Just to confirm, you're using FSX, right?
Cheers!

To really sound like a newbie, is ActiveSky the same thing as a FSINN or SB4? If not, what does it do?
Yes, I'm using FSX and Vista.

So ActiveSky will be what integrates with FSINN/VATSIM to provide WX info? How much performance does it take in the background? I'm looking at 9800GTX cards, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
As of now, when I try to go into WX in FSX, it shows user-defined, and will allow changes (like selecting real world wx) until I select OK. Then it reverts back to VATSIM wx.

Active sky doesn't integrate with FSINN, it creates the weather that is depicted. It is capable of pulling the weather info from the vatsim servers tho. You will prob see a slight performance hit which will increase depending on the amount of weather in the area. (i.e. bad weather and lots of clouds = worse performance) but the weather that you see will be greatly improved and more accurate and is well worth the cost.

That's kind of the impression I got when I looked at the web site. If this is what's going to get the TAT to a realistic place, I'm willing to do it. The improved wx scenery would be nice, but I've got to fix this first. If I'm being dense, I apologize up front, but are you guys telling me that ActiveSky will resolve the TAT issue?
