Ok before I tell you guys my problem I know that I made a stupid mistake. My trial verison of Tend Micro ran out about two weeks ago. Well since then I have been still using my computer. The problem began yesterday after I had to reboot after a freeze. When I rebooted the computer it was fine for about 5 mins. Then the desktop started to flash and changed over to windows classic mode. Also my I cant not access the internet and when I try the computer locks up. I will get a message that says there is a problem with svchost.exe that will NOT go away. There is like 20 svchost.exe under task manger all running in different parts ( System, Andrew, Local). I installed Norton of a flsh drive and it will only scan for about 7000 files then stops or about 2 mins. It says there is a problem with SONAR advanced. The oddest thing is that I cant access my volume controls. It says that it is missing a mixer program. This also only happens after the message about svchost.exe comes up.
In short can some please HELP. I applyed for ARTCC at memphis I dont need to be down as I just got accpected.

SvSvchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). This shouldn't be causing the problem. If you've created any restore points, enter your computer in safe mode and skip back to one of these dates when your computer was healthy.

Although if you can you might want to try AVG, I know that they let you burn a rescue disk and scan your computer in DOS or something. And MAKE SURE that the virus hasn't made it's way into System Restore, because it is sometimes the place where viruses like to hide so when you try it, the virus will reappear.

I would also run those that John mentioned in safe mode. that way as few processes are running which might interrupt the scan. to get into safe mode, when you start your computer press f8 repeatedly and a prompt will come up with safe mode and safe mode with internet. I would try it with out internet first and see if that works. good luck
