Ctrl + Alt + Delete won't bring up the task manager so you can shut it down? Mine has frozen on me a couple of times also where I could'nt get anything to work and I ended up just having to reboot my computer. It's always something, When I had FS9 it never wanted to completely shut down.. I no it gets frustrating sometimes but try to be patient and use your head and figure out what's causing it.. Breaking your computer will only cause you more grief and cash.. lol. You need to figure out what's causing the "fatal error" message.. Not saying that this is the problem you're having but, when mine has givin me the fatal error message and did'nt open it was something to do with FSCopilot and FSInn. I simply had to uninstall them and the sim opened just fine again and then I could reinstall them and everything was fine again. The reason it was doing this, I finally figured out, was because I had exited the sim while in the settings tab.. Does it every time. So as long as I make sure I exit the sim from the free flight tab when FSCopilot and FSInn are installed, I don't have any problems with it.. Hope some of this might help. I've got a permenant flat spot on my forehead from banging my head on the desk too. lol.
Good luck..
