i have a second monitor that i want to use but when i run FS9 in full-screen mode when i click something on the second screen it minimizes FS. when i run FS in windowed mode it doesnt respond to view changes. when i click my joystick button to change views, theres a brief flash and it was the same screen i started with but if i go into full-screen its in the next view. i pretty much cant get out of the 2d cockpit view. i've attempted window mode on the PSS Dash-8 and FFS Saab 340 and they have the same problems. i have an older second monitor that uses VGA and DVI, my video card is only DVI, i only have a spare VGA cord but i have a DVI to VGA converter and it works but eventually it crashes my card and all i get is a grey screen. if i fix FS in windowe mode ill run to bestbuy and get a cord, but i only want to get it if i fix my fs problem.

Strange, but if you are running a fullscreen app and click somewhere in the second monitor, it will always minimize. It's not a bug. I don't think it has something to do with you video card, or your airplane for that matter, so I don't think that getting a cord will solve anything.

i know its not a bug, the only way to work around the minimizing is to run FS9 in windowed mode, and the dvi-vga converter was screwing up my videocard so i only want to buy the DVI cable if i get FS to function properly in windowed mode

If it's an FS bug, then changing the cable will not help. If it's a graphics card problem or a DVI cable problem, then getting a cable may help. If FS is still running and is not responding to your joystick commands, then it is probably an FS problem and getting another cable will not help.

i know the second monitor has nothing to do with my window problem because it does the same thing with just 1 monitor plugged on. also VGA= Analog connection DVI=Digital connection. when you start converting a digital output into an analog one, in my case, crashes my video card. anyone got any ideas for either one

double check to make sure that your full screen mode resolution matches your screen resolution...for instance if you are running 1024 x 768 in your screen, and you have FS set to run at 2048 x 1024, you can issues just like you are stating.
just a thought.

the 2 screens are 2 different resolutions but i put FS9 on my bigger monitor which is set to the correct resolution which is 1680x1050, and the secondary monitor is 1024x768, and i would like to use the second monitor for charts but when i click it minimizes FS so i want it in windowed mode. i get the video card crash outside of FS, i have a n ATI card so i use catalyst control center and when i go to "detect monitors" it screws up the card. so im pretty sure i need a DVI cable since the converter appears to be the problem but theres no point if anything in my second monitor is going to minamize FS when i activate it

John, I sometimes use a second monitor....most of what you have mentioned is above my pay grade. I run my FS9 in windows mode....before I can do anything in FS9 I have to click on the screen that I'm running FS on. If you click on a window on your other monitor you are directly working in that window and nothing you do will affect FS. Hope this helps

"i have a second monitor that i want to use but when i run FS9 in full-screen mode when i click something on the second screen it minimizes FS" This is the nature of the beast Nothing is wrong with your connections and /or VC or the drivers. I run the same way, when in Full screen that will be the priority monitor, click off on the secondary monitor, it will minimize fs or any other app that runs in a full screen mode.
"when i run FS in windowed mode it doesnt respond to view changes." You have to click on your fs monitor first then change views. or do whatever you are going to do in the aircraft. the other option is to buy a 150 dollar converter, called Triple head to go, which will allow you to run only in window mode m, but allow multiple apps to run on different monitors without having to click here and there.
you're dealing with two different signals on a single graphics card, and that will tip the boat over(Video card)every time. hence you take a DVI cable and run one monitor in DVI, the secong in VGA on one card those issues will arise.

Is there not a device that you can get both monitors to plug into (as mentioned above "hence you take a DVI cable and run one monitor in DVI, the secong in VGA") and with a click of a button you can switch monitors with out affecting FS? I recall seeing it on Tigar Direct web site, but wasn't sure if it would work.

im having the "unable to change views" even with 1 monitor in. and again i know theres no glitch with the minimizing, and i believe i get the video card problems when i use a DVI to VGA converter. i just want to use the second screen as a chart monitor
