I have a cusin in Wisconsin who got a new computer with vista in it and he was'nt happy with it at all.. I guess he had all kinds of problems. He ended up reformatting with XP and has been happy ever since.. Not speaking from experience mind you I've never even seen vista.. Just know what my cusin told me about it..
Hope that works out for you..
Cheers..!

Ruben, what issue(s) are you having? I've helped several folks with SB4 and FSInn with Vista and FSX. If you send me some specifics, maybe I can help you out.

Ruben,
I just upgraded to VISTA 64 and yes it was a trying experience. I had the same problems with FSX, SB4, ACARS, FSINN, and .......... well just about everything. Fortunately for me Andrew Kaufmann sugested that after installing right click on the exe file and use run as administorer (spelling?). You just have to do that the first time you run the program. Works every time and for other than flight sim programs as well. Now if he would just tell me the winning lottery ticket number

the whole "Run as Administrator" thing has to do with User Account control, and the nice thing is you can shut it off. i dont quite remember how but if you poke around the security features and such in control panel im sure you'll find it.

Ruben,
Yes it did. Prior to Vista 64 I could not run FSX, ACARS, and SB4. Now that I have the 64 bit system I have 8GB of ram and with Andrews advice it all runs smoothly, no more lock ups. In fact FS2004 runs much better as well.

I am looking forward to windows 7, it is what Visa was supposed to be. With XP losing support and Vista not really a great choice, the beta testers have high praises for Windows 7.

It looks like Windows 7 is being designed with 'native' (not sure of the proper term) coding so that any Vista things will work with it, and a lot of XP things will.

MS originally was supposed to have ended support for XP recently, but with the total mess up that is AKA Vista, they had to extend the life of support for XP for another couple years or something like that. That being said, I've heard nice things about windows 7, but, like all software/hardware, etc, I reserve judgement as an IT Professional until I see the product first hand and really about a year or so into it's life as vendors adjust to it and develop drivers/firmware/software etc for it.

Thing is, who really cares if MS still offer support for XP? Do you actually know anyone (who is *not* a business) who has ever rung MS for support
I still find it odd to hear about people having lots of troubles with Vista. As a user from day 1, with no major issues ever. Maybe i've just been lucky? Anyway, I agree what I have heard through the grapevine is all praise for Windows 7

Liam, it's not about calling them for support, its about them releasing updates, service packs, fixing critical issues, especially security issues, etc....
Now as for vista, not all people have had issues with it, this is true with any software/hardware from various vendors, however, you couldn't get me to put vista on my computer unless I had to, or if I want to run DX10 apps, like FSX. This being said, I hate vista, with a passion and have had nothing but issues with it. It's on my personal laptop at home and as soon as the warranty expires, i'm reloading it with xp.

I am a beta tester for windows 7. All works amazing on it including all our fs stuff. However there is one problem with it right now and I dont know if they are going to change it.. The software is NT based which a lot of programs and drivers do not support. I am not sure what MS is planning on doing with that part since how you cant even install most printers right now with it. Supposedly they are trying to make it so it detects harware and installs everything for you. Sigh.... Anyways as for vista.. They have come a long way since the beginning still with some issues. Most issues however will not be found by the regular user aka most of you... Most people only have issues with it becuase they dont know how to use the software properly. I always turn off my UAC because it does tend to hinder and block some of my installs and programs wanting to be used. That should fix 90 percent off your problems. Do this by going into your control panel then user accounts. right at the bottom of that window check - turn off user account control. After that it will ask you to restart your computer. Now go enjoy what you have! Cheers!
