So, I think I have decided to build my own computer which is something I have never done before, however I think I could make it happen. Anyway, I currently run FS9 and have a lot of add on payware so I plan on continuing to run FS9. I do have FSX as well, so I may end up slowly moving to FSX. I currently have Windows XP and I was wondering if I should continue to run XP or move up to Vista. What do you guys think? Also, here are the specs that I am looking at for my computer, please tell me what you think?
Intel e8400 processor
ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX motherboard
OCZ Reaper HPC 4 GB DDR2 Ram
Seagate 750gb Sata hard drive
Antec 650w ATX 12v PSU
NVIDIA 9800 GTX 512mb DDR3

Your specs are good, IMHO, stay with XP. Maybe get XP 64 bit?

I agree....good specs. As far as Vista, I have Vista 64 and like it now that it's updated. I didn't however, find it particularly friendly to FS9 (for me) even when it was run in the XP compatible mode. I use only FSX now, so it all works fine. I have never run FSX on an XP machine, so nothing for me to say there.

Good specs as the others said. I would wait until Windows 7 comes out though, to upgrade OS. I've got a beta right now, and it's great. Leaps and bounds improvement over Vista.

Thanks for your responses and feedback. I think I will keep my XP 32 bit for now. I wouldn't mind upgrading to XP Pro 64bit but I may wait and see what Windows 7 looks like.
Another question, if I am building my own computer can I buy XP Pro for system builders and save $ or do I have to buy the retail version?

Agree, specs are good.. with VISTA x64 it would be better coz u can use DX10 preview for better FPS.
Also a little overclocking will increase the performance.. try push from 3.0 Ghz to 4.0 Ghz with 8x multipliers.

Thanks for your feedback guys. I am looking into getting XP Pro 64 bit edition instead of Vista. I can get the above items from Newegg for about $770. Hopefully it with work well with FS9 and FSX.
