Do the Flight Numbers change? I made up a page in a notebook with basic information about regular flights I fly, including route, flight number etc. I just noticed on the schedule in the pilot center that some of my numbers don't match anymore.

Rodney , if I'm not mistaken they get updated every 30 days or so. And I believe thats
because they come from the real airline schedule. So if the RW airline changes their
numbers then ours are changed as well. Some one correct me if Im wrong on this.

I got a question. How do the airlines pick a flight number. Is it just a number or do they have a meaning.

Usually they have the longer flights on the lower numbers and the shorter on the higher numbers. Also, some airlines has even for east or westbound flights. It all kind of depends.

Danny - here are some interesting links with how flights are numbering (some of the time, seems the rules aren't always followed):

OK, So I have to log on to the website here and get the flight number to enter into ACARS before every flight? Or is there an easier way?

If you want to use the accurate flight number, sure. You can also do the search from within ACARS.
Cheers!

Which key command in ACARS do I use? I didn't see anything in the manual or .Help in ACARS. That will streamline preflight to be able to get that information there. I thought I was doing good with the whole notebook thing.

Rodney, what i do is , after i have checked that the flight is in the schedule , I make the flight plan and save it in the .pln format using one of several methods,
then I open ACARS, press file, open flight plan ,.. load the plan , connect ACARS then press flight , search online schedule , this then even fills up my search window with the relevant ICAO codes ..all i need to do is press search , you then get the choice of flights from the schedule , just click one , these two steps fill up all of my ACARS screen ,
fill up and go.
good luck

Thank You very much. So much easier. All my plans are saved in FS Commander as .PLN files. The Notebook has just been retired.
