It is with a very very hard heart and a lot of battling decisions that I must resign from Delta Virtual Airlines.
I will tell you the honest truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. A few months ago, I was introduced to a growing VA called IPG. (www.ipgvirtual.org) I met the President/Founder while I was controlling on IVAO, but even if I didn't it still would have been like a small town; everybody knowing everyone well. So after some serious negotiating, Island Pacific Virtual decided to fully merge with Oasis, or should I say vice-versa, and have recently actually fully completed this merger to make IPG Virtual (Island Pacific Group Virtual). This included merging staff, pilots, VAFS stats, hubs, and even the slogan.
Winding back a bit...Since the VA was small, they needed staff. There have been talks between me and Bill as to what staff position I would take (as I already wanted a spot on the staff). Now, fast forwarding. I was going to be the LAX Hub manager (their headquarters and largest hub), but someone had taken this spot. So in the process of the merger, the HR director asked me to be the KBOS Hub manager, the 2nd largest hub, and the gateway to Europe. So since the merger had not officially been completed yet, the hub was not open.
Finally, about a week ago, the merger had completed, thus the opening of my Hub. That meant I had quite a few duties...maintaining a good spot on IPG, keeping up with my staff duties at IPG, maintaining a good spot here with DVA, oh and not to mention the two biggest, school and personal life. So to help me, I hired an Assistant Hub Manager, since I needed help and this guy wanted the job anyway. So that would reduce the workload a little...well just a little.
So I decided to make a rotation schedule. One week I would fly DVA, the other, IPG. I got that started immediately. I flew my flight Monday that was pretty good, actually. But yesterday (Tuesday), I got back in that cockpit of the B737...and something just didn't feel right. My conscious seemed to be (Well ok, I am a Christian, and for those of you who are as well, it felt like God was) telling me "You don't belong here anymore. You know where you should be, you know what to do. You made a strong commitment to IPG with taking that staff position." And coincidentally, FSX froze...and my computer froze...I tried to restart the computer, but every time I would try to mess with the ACARS or FSX, it would shut off. So I just gave in. I took a little time to think about this, and trust me, it was certainly NOT the easiest to deal with. I mean, I'd leave good friends, great memories and an even better VA organization. But you know what, every single time I would get into that cockpit for DVA in the future if I stayed, it just would not feel right. I just would not feel like I belonged, and that I am betraying where I, in these times, have apparently been called to be. So, in an effort to keep away from trouble (and not to be swallowed by a whale LOL), I decided to stick with what my conscious was telling me. So it is now that with an extremely heavy heart I resign from DVA.
I hope all of you understand the circumstance, as trust me it is not easy. (And for the Christians out there again, it seemed that God has opened the doors for me to move on to a greater slot at IPG.) I hope all of you don't hate my guts after this. Now also remember-things change, and can change quickly. So you never know, in a year or two, maybe even less, I may show up back here again. But for now, I am going to stick with God's plan for me (as apparently it is...) and move on.
And to Jamall, my good friend here on DVA-Man, this is really tough for me. But a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. Maybe we can still fly together on VATSIM and maybe even see each other on the network sometime.
Well, Best wishes to all of you out there. I hope to be back soon with you guys! I will always remember DVA!

Austin, just my 2 cents, I also belong to another VA, with a very high position in it. I find it very easy to maintain both va's and Im happy. I know there are several others here who also belong to other VA's. Like I said, just my 2 cents and hate to see you go.

Obviously, nobody can change a decision that you've made, but I hope you come back to the great VA we have here! We're sad to see you go, but I wish you the best of luck at your new VA and position!

Austin, as a fellow pilot, it's been a great experience to have you as a part of our virtual airline.
Let me first off start by saying that you have played a major role in contributing to our wonderful community, and you will not be forgoten.
I also wish you the best of luck in your virtual aviation and real world careers, and wish you all the best. May your landing lights never die out.
Be true to your self, and do what you feel is right. Your heart will always vector you onto the right runway. And though you may have some bumpy landings, your skies will remain smooth.
Thank you for all you've done for DVA, and...blue skies.
:'(

Sad to see you go, Austin We'll miss you but good luck at your new position at IPG. You'll probably be the best hub manager. But like Danny said, the door is always open for you. Good luck and hope to see you on VATSIM in the future.

My two cents. I have held staff positions with other VA's as well as this one! Nobody has the caliber of folks we have here. The staff and the pilot base here is outstanding. I hate to see pilots leave for another VA, but it is all part of the business. Good luck with your new VA.. Happy Contrails.

Don't equate your conscience or feelings with God, still following your conscience is a good thing.
Most important thing from my point of view is: give your studies 110%, you only go thru that
stuff once, make it count!! Good luck on your path Austin.
