Well, I got my new operating system today and I installed it on my new computer. I got Windows XP Media Center installed but I cannot get connected to the internet. The motherboard came with a LAN port but not an ethernet connection. I have an older ethernet network adapter that I put in, my new computer but Windows did not recognize the hardware and the drivers are on a floppy disk, not a cd. Tomorrow I hope to get a new ethernet network adapter and hopefully that will work, if not I will be asking you all questions so I can get up and running.. I didn't install fs9 or fsx yet because I want to make sure I have all of the windows updates before doing so.

Eric,
LAN port same as the Ethernet card you are trying to install. If you are using a cable modem, or ISDN Modem, Shut the computer off, shut the modem off, unplug the LAN cable from the computer, turn on the modem, make sure you wait for the modem to boot up, you Should see some activity (lights blinking on the modem. Once that is done, put the LAN cable back in the computer, turn it on, and you should be good to go.
Long story short your modem works on the one and not the new one, because the modem assigned a unique number to your old computer, you need to clear the modem so another unique number is assigned to the new one.
