Hey all..
I was just wondering if anyone here is using "shockwave" lights in FSX..? I just purchased it last night and when I installed it, it wipped out all of my added A/C paints.. And I'm not sure the lights even worked.. Anyone else have this issue with shockwave? I had to uninstall shockwave and then resore my puter to a couple of days ago to get my paints back.. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hold on Dale,
I typed a reply earlier today, but I guess I forgot to submit!
From what I have read about Shockwave lights the lights are appended to the aircraft.cfg file and it is meant to back up a cfg file before it changes from the stock lights to shockwave.
Have any lights installed at all?
Do they work on the stock fsx aircraft?
Do they work on any 3rd party aircraft?
Are the liveries you have lost on the stock or 3rd party aircraft or on both.
Did you manually add the new liveres to the cfg file or did they have an auto installer?
Are you willing to get your editor on the case and manually add the shockwave lights yourself?
Last question, did you get the FSX version?
I have been tempted a few times to get Shockwave lights, so if you can tell me it rocks I'm sold. So if I help you I'm helping me!

Yeah I made sure I got the FSX version.. I manually added my paints to my arcraft.cfg files.. It's only supposed to change the lights on the default A/C so third party planes should'nt make any difference.. After running the installer I went in to FS to see the lights, but to my suprise all of my paints for my default A/C were gone.. It says you can restore things back to normal by using the installer to uninstall the lights but it does'nt put things back to normal.. Guess I should have saved my fsx.cfg before I installed the lights but I did'nt so I had to go back to a restore point in order to get things back to normal. I'll do somemore checking Dave and let you know if I find anything else out. And from the looks of what I did see the lights did'nt work.. I have Xenon lights installed already, (freeware light effects, very cool) and Some addon that I can't find that made the lights look a little more realistic but was also a freeware addon.. I would love to be able to manually add the lights to my aircraft.cfg files but it comes with an installer.. I'll figure out a way to get em to work.. lol

I've just been looking on the shockwave forums to see of they have the config details for the DA Fokker and the Wilco Airbus and it looks like there are 2 files per aircraft which need editing:
aircraft.cfg and panels.cfg, these files will exisit for each aircraft in the aircrafts folder, so there will be a lot of editing if you have a lot of aircraft you regularly use.

That's why they invented copy and paste my friend.. lol. I was thinking about maybe saving my fsx.cfg file.. Then installing the lights again and making a copy of the 737 aircraft.cfg file and then just putting the original .cfg file back and editing the lights in myself as copied off of the aircraft.cfg file from when I installed the lights.. Make sense..? lol.

What????!!!!!?????!??!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?!
It took a few slow reads for me to get the "jist" of what you mean, that is probably more to do with the vino than your message.
Why am I not flying tonight, because I'm on the grapre juice and celebrating my exam pass. My last landing this afternnon was hard enough and I want drinking then....
Anyway, I digress from the point.
Yes take a copy of the aircraft and panel cfg files for the 737, then install shockwave lights and compare the difference between the 2 versions of each file, the only difference should be the lights changing for shockwave variants. then manually add your own liveries, that should do you and all will be happy. Then you can tell me the lights are awesome an I can buy it aswell.... everyone happy...

LOL Dave.. Ok I think I have a plan to make these lights work but for right now I'm just gonna go and fly my flight from KPDX to KSLC and see if I can get my landing stats down in the 737-800.. After 23 flights my average touchdown speed is, -228 ft per min.. I want to get that below 200 if I can.. lol. I'll mess with this 3D lights mess more tomorrow or maybe later tonight.. Let me know if you run accross anything else pertaining to this.. I found a tutorial on how to add them to other aircraft also but that should be pretty straight forward after compairing the cfg fliles both with and without.. Just a bunch of work I guess..
Cheers my friend..

Hey there Dale and Dave, when i installed my shockwave lights i used Ultimate Weather FX-3D lights installer,it added the lights to both fs9,and fsx!And to get a good idea the difference them make load up the default 172 and go to a small airport,at about 3000 AGL the lights will light up the runway and the taxiways HUGH difference!

Oh I'm sure I'd really like em Glen.. It's just that when I installed the Shockwave 3D lights, it wipped out all of my addon paints for my default FSX planes. I'm just trying to figure a way around that.. This has it's own installer so I don't think I could do that..
