I was just wondering if you can have Vista on one of your accounts and XP on another?

No you can't, because the only difference between computer accounts is Documents and Registry, but you're still installing the same operating system, onto the same harddrive.
To further explain - An operating system installs itself onto a harddrive, not documents and settings.
The only way you could have two operating systems installed, would be to create two Harddrive partitions, and install Vista on one, and XP on the other. Then select which partition you want to boot up during computer start-up.

And then comes the confusion of which OS you want to run at which time. My guess is the newer one will always overide the older no matter what you try to do. Windows is known for not wanting to kill itself, and I am sure the big brother (Vista) will always try to over ride younger brother (XP) and never let it win.

Vista is much nicer than XP when it comes to coexisting with multiple OS's, it actually makes a nice
lil pre-boot menu which allows you to select, I have two partitions on my main disk, one to boot
Vista Ultimate, the other boots standard 32bit XP.
I left the XP around for sanity checking problems I might have with 64bit Vista, but actually I've
almost never needed to use it.
OH, btw, if you want such a dual boot setup you have to make SURE to install Vista second,
cuz if you try to install XP after Vista it will quite happily clobber your bootblock and leave you
with only the ability to boot XP. I used to think it only was that rude to a Linux partition, so
I found it amusing that it would actually clobber its own kind
This is just one more little reason why I've found more reasons to like rather than dislike
Vista.
