Sorry for so many questions...
Just yesterday I noticed when I loaded up my fs2004 pss 757 that the frames were rather low. I was in default scenery with my normal settings. I was expecting my normal 50 frames (or around that), but got 2.
In FSX I usually get around 20 in a default aircraft; I got 5 this time. This happened practically overnight. I tired reinstalling both but no luck.
NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT [Display adapter] (2x)
Default Monitor
Seiko Epson 17.2 [Monitor] (17.2"vis)
Operating System System Model
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600) Dell Inc. MXG071
System Service Tag: 2SNZRF1 (support for this PC)
Chassis Serial Number: 2SNZRF1
Enclosure Type: Portable
2046 Megabytes Installed Memory
Slot 'DIMM_A' has 1024 MB (serial number 850ADC98)
Slot 'DIMM_B' has 1024 MB (serial number 8228F438)
When my computer wiped out (two times), and I had to reinstall everything, the frames went back to high.
The things I have installed:
Wilco e-jets
PMDG MD-11
PSS 757
Indianapolis Scenery- blueprint
Barbados (free)- blueprint
Thanks!
To come to think of it, this only happens when I install things.

Defrag....Happens to me all the time. I go from 30 FPS locked to 20. Not a huge difference but it can get choppy.
Defrag your CPU 1x a month or whenever you install something big. ( I.E a scenery package)

Being honest, I'm a bit scared. lol Maybe not scared but confused. I defraged with both programs and restarted; nothing changed. I still get 4 frames from what used to be 40 or 50.

Thanks guys, but no luck. Hm.. Here's what I've done:
-I've defragged with O&O, diskeeper, and windows XP default.
From what I've read, it seems that I do indeed have a defrag problem. After I've installed about 3 things my frames went down no matter what plane or where I was. When I defragged with them it said that it fixed over 1,000 issues. I don't mean to be a burden, but I can't seem to find what's wrong.
I would like to thank you for all your help!
simile* what a funny mistake.

I can't say for sure if a fragmented harddrive is your particular problem, but I do know if you go here: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1208959973
and follow this to the letter (NickN. tells you how to use O&O properly) you will become a believer.

Heres the update:
So far, still the same frames.
Craig, thanks for the link. I did everything the forum post told me to do; let me tell you, it took long. I'm doing antivirus right now to see if that is the issue.
Thanks guys!

if you have another external hard drive or a smaller flash drive, put all of your scenery on that

Yup, that's what I'm doing now. Thanks Mark, John, and of course Andrew!
I'm restoring to the day I got this computer running. Keep in mind that that was last month when I got XP. Right now, everything is good, and I'm installing fs2004 disk 1.
If this doesn't work, I'll just assume that my computer was being magical by giving me 50 frames and that it just decided to go back to normal all of the sudden. My specs seem okay, though.
thanks!
