What if I simulate diverting to another airport, and it is in my ACARS can I still get credit for it?

In general, the flight will get held until you complete your original trip, unless BOTH legs are valid DVA flights. So if you're flying, say, ATL-LAX and you divert to ABQ, if there's no ATL-ABQ flight in the schedule, it'll get flagged and held. If you fly the rest of the flight, ABQ-LAX, and reference your original diversion in your PIREP, then they should both be approved. If both of the flight legs were valid DVA legs--say you were going to fly ATL-SEA but you diverted to SLC and ended up with ATL-SLC and SLC-SEA, chances are those will both get approved immediately because they're valid DVA flights.
I can't speak for senior staff, but personally, I'd advise not diverting unless you absolutely have to. It makes things harder on staff in terms of approving flights. If you do end up diverting, make sure you mention something about it in your PIREP, and expect it to be held unless it's otherwise a valid DVA flight leg.

I believe Build 239 (or 240) has better divert logic, since it will notice that the PIREP doesn't match the ACARS flight info entry. Let me know if that works.
Cheers!

It's actually related to a brainstorm I got with this PIREP: http://www.deltava.org/pirep.do?id=0x56411 It was calculating the runways incorrectly, because the ACARS flight data row didn't match the PIREP data. Once I discovered this was the case, it became simple to detect diverts.
Cheers!

I was using active sky approaching KJFK and the visibility was right at minims, and I was thinking where to devert to as I wasn't seeing the runway.
