Hey Guys,
I am looking to build/buy a PC for under 800 dollars. I was originally going to buy this pc (which I like alot and many people say it can handle fs9 to the MAX)-

Or...should I build a PC. I have NO computer experience, and would be very worried about building one. Also, when you build a computer- no warranty! if i buy one, I can just take it to best buy if it breaks.

For FS9, buying a computer is great.
The time where it appears to be very benificial is for FSX, because it demands such high levels of hardware, so therefor is cheaper to build yourself.
For an FS9 computer, which doesn't require as much, building one can save some money, but isn't as "crutial" in my oppinion.
I also have no experience with computer building, and in my case, even as an FSX user, I'm taking the more costly route to buy a computer. First off, you get the waranty. Second you get proffesional support. Third you can save time.
So I have nothing against people who build PCs, in fact I aplaude them. However for people such as you and I, I'd buy that computer you found. It looks great!

It will run FS9, not FSX. I personally like to build computers, mainly for the savings involved. My machine would've cost me $650 if I bought from HP or Dell, but I ended up paying $150 less for the same thing. I guess it depends what you think, is it worth the extra $150 to get a pro to do it?

Yeah, that computer will run FS2004 with full graphics settings and a h...eck of a lot of add-ons, still keeping a nice steady framerate.
I, for one, if I didn't already have FSX built up with all these add-ons, would buy FS2004 and and that computer in an instant.

I built a computer about a month or so ago and the only experience I had was putting in a video card, sound card and when my DVD drive went out I put a new one in. With only that experience, I was able to build a nice computer that can run FSX at high levels. I got all my parts off of New Egg for less than $800. Took me less than 3 hours to put together.
My specs:
Intel E8400
ASUS P5Q
Antec 650w psu
4gb OCZ Reaper RAM
750 gb hard drive
Sony Optiarc 22X dvd r/burner Sata 7200rpm
Nvidia 9800 GTX 512 gb

Jeff,
Seriously consider building one yourself, It really isnt that difficult. Sure it is ovewhelming when you have never built one, but you will never learn if you never try it....
Unless you are buying a PC with a 24-7-365 onsite warranty you are gaining nothing paying someone else to build an inferior PC at an inflated price.
Until I built my first PC it was a big scary project, now I am building PC's on a regular basis for my mates (keep forgetting to charge them though)

I'm using a sony laptop I bought about 5 years ago, can you still buy xp? Both of my brothers have vista and I would much rather have xp when I buy/build a new one.
