The MD88 Program has taken the Dog west to Salt Lake City (KSLC) for a new, exciting and beautiful Rocky Mountain ride to Denver (KDEN). The new checkride has been offically posted and all pilots transfering or applying for additional ratings in the Maddog will have the opportunity to test their skills in the thin air of the Rocky Mountain west. I suppose I may have been getting tired of commuting to Orlando to make the CheckRides or maybe I work for the tourism board and just wanted to have more visitors to Salt Lake City, or I wanted a reason to drop in on the DVA Flight Academy more often, or . . . . oh well, no matter, we think you will enjoy your time here.

I fly out of here every day, believe it or not more than once a day, yes, I should have posted in airline ops, but too late now. Also, yes KSLC and Denver are both high density altitude airports and the dog needs a long leash to get off the ground.

I think Delta is pulling all the MD-90s out and putting the 737's out there. Everytime I go to Atlanta i see more and more MD-90s

Mark, Yes Delta has been moving a few frames(M90s) to Atlanta but most of the fleet is still in SLC. Post merger the word is they are going to move more 319/320s to SLC and move the 90s into MSP. This way they can reach both coasts easy out of both airports. Also Delta is looking to add more 90s to the fleet. They just bought 3 from an airline in europe and more are going to come from China.
Also the real Delta is (for the first time in a few years) bring the M88s back to SLC for the summer. They will run ATL-DFW-SLC-SJC and back. Should be fun to find out what (if) it has to leave behind. SJC is a cool(weather wise) airport but DFW-SLC should be a dog for the 88s. I wounder how AA does on it with the M82s.
