I know this is going to sound dumb but i even flew the exact same route from Atlanta to JFK. I will get airborne in the MD88 and will get to about FL270 , that is when everything goes to crap. the airspeed will start to fall off. i try and take it off auto throttle no help take it off auto pilot no help. the aircraft the butt end will drop the aircraft stalls. try changing the trim back to 0 no help. do i need to bo and reload flight sim x of is there something i am missing here

Hi John,
I had the exact same problem on one specific route with the CRJ200... and on the "check ride"!
Still donĀ“t know what happened, but the next day was fine.
Try to reload or the "all solving" computer restart.

Some third party aircraft need to use FSUIPC to interface between the autopilot and FSX correctly.
There have been some posts recently regarding this with PMDG aircraft.
I would try to reinstall ACARS (after first removing it) and ensure you tick the box to install the FSUIPC from the ACARS installer.
See if that fixes it.

I doubt that Dave's fix will work. I have always experienced this problem in the fleet MD88. Try going to FL340, and you may end up stalling! For some reason the A/T sticks N1 at 87% during the climb, but that's not enough to hold a decent airspeed. What I do is take off A/T, open the throttle to an N1 of about 95%, and limit my climb to 1500fpm BEFORE the airspeed starts to deteriorate. You should be able to hold a decent airspeed. Just don't forget to resume A/T once you reach cruise.
Dave--my reasoning is this--I just uninstalled and reloaded ACARS and its latest FSUIPC because my Captain Sim 757 upgrade to 4.3, in its infinite wisdom, overwrote an older FSUIPC version. Problem still exists....maybe the registered version of FSUIPC would fix this???

Have you tried turning off the wx.? eratic winds will cause this problem. FSUIPC, might help if you have the wind feature mapped.
Regards,
Jerry

Lowering my vertical airspeed in any aircraft helped this problem for me when I first started flying. (Sometimes as low a 1000fpm or less.) If heavily loaded, step climbing also helps. Burn some fuel off to lighten up.

try step climbing. if you crank the engines to 100% and try a climb from t/o to FL310 at more than 1800fpm, exactly what you say happens - does. I am currently rewriting the fleet MD88 AOM, and have already incorporated this issue.

Andrew--you're rewriting the AOM?? That's great to hear! Even though it is one of the better aircraft documents in the library (I think the CRJ is really good also), it's always nice to see improvements. Good luck!
