Yeah, so on Facebook someone sent a link to a youtube vid. Apparently something happened with the link and it redirected to some weird website, something called yuotube. I knew it was fake right off the bat. It said I needed Adobe Flash Player 10.37, which after a quick search I realized does not officially exist. It installed it anyway, even though I refused. I quickly exited out of the website.
One day later...today. Well I kept seeing these ads pop up randomly every 5 minutes. I was thinking "Why is this happening suddenly." I went back to the facebook page where the vid was linked. Another guy had just warned that it had been hacked and the link (which was posted by a very trusted friend. my guess was that someone hacked the actual site.) was actually a link to a trojan! I was like, "Oh great...a trojan. Now what?"
So I ran the CA Yahoo Anti-Spy program. Sure enough, it said that a major threat was detected and that I should run the full scan. So, I ran the full scan, and, Oh, what have we found here in the first 30 secs? A TROJAN!!! I look at the description...words can not explain this, here's the link to the description page (not harmful, it's just the description page given by the anti-spy website. :))...http://www.ca.com/us/securityadvisor/pest/pest.aspx?id=453157225
I have never been attacked by one of these before. So what should I do? Is notifying police necessary since the spyware could have collected personal data such as location?
I'm pretty sure I'll have to change my passwords to all the sites I'm a member of. Help plz, this is sorta urgent...;)

Just notify others of it, only thing you can do. The police can't really do anything about it.

You could send a msg to the FBI's IC3 dept. At the least it would inform them of it. Just don't expect to hear back from them.

If it was from facebook, it is probably already known. 1 rule of thumb, if the site looks questionable then don't click on it.

Well see it was an actual youtube link, but it loaded up something completely different, and by the time it did, I couldn't do anything about it. But we did decide to go ahead and install Norton Anti-Virus 360 3.0 on this computer. So we got it removed. Upon restart, she acted sluggish at first, but now everything's back to normal!

I got one of those. It hacked my facebook account and sent messages to all of my friends, even changed my status. Bad stuff. I fixed a guys computer that had the problem, execpt he didn't take care of it right away and the computer wouldn't boot up anymore. If you think you might have the facebook virus, make sure you take care of it by running virus scans and anti-spyware programs, and what not.
Speaking of the pop-ups, do you want to shoot me an email of what nature they were, the ones i got were quite offensive. azphxandrew (at) gmail.com

I had the same exact thing happen to me. I kept getting the "Adobe Flash Player 10.37" thing poping up.
I kept telling it no. And it wiped out my whole sytem. For whatever reason my anti vrus didnt pick it up.
However just before the actuall crash it did detect it and said it was a virus but then system went down.
I just finally after a week got puter to work again. I had to scrub the HD and start all over fresh.
My kids use Myspace and Face book. I dont ,so Im sure thats where it got in. That was the first time
I had one actually casue my puter any ahrm my virus scanner has always caught that junk.
And my definitions are updated everyday automatically. Im gonna scan all my backup disk as well
before I try to reinstall anything I backed up.
That thing was definately viscious.
