My Dell Dimension E521 is died today. It just 2 years old. I couldn't believe this happening. I was flying middle of cruise and all of suddenly crashed. Flat monitor went black. I didn't know what's wrong. I just rebooted and back on and I just looking at something a few minutes later PC went black out again. I tried rebooted. Nothing working at all. It looks like hard drive stopped or something else. I have to take my PC and monitor to my work and to see whats wrong with this. My gosh I was so upset that I could lost my files afcad, traffic, aircraft etc.. in FS2004. I have to start all over again. I was so mad!
I'll get another new Dell PC this week. Money$$ sigh!
I'm grounded pilot now. lol :-(

Sounds like either your hard drive went, or your mother board.
Cheers

Why buy a new Dell? You can get your self a good rig custom made to run FS9 very cheap - there are a ton of builders here (Anthony Piasecki) that can really help/hook you up.

I agree with Andrew--build one! While I've always liked Dells, I may never buy one again after building one last year. You already have a monitor, so putting together even a semi-decent rig can be done for about 600 bucks...and way too much of that is the OS cost. If you have your Windows CD (doubtful if you have a Dell), you could try loading that and save another 130 or so....
I'm pretty much a mechanical klutz, and mine came together in about 2 hours and has worked perfectly ever since.

Hello,
Who is that Anthony Piasecki? Is this DVA person or company name? I'm confusing. I will tell you when I get back from work to examine on my PC problem. I see monitor is fine but no response from PC is on. I see PC was showing me that will automatically fix system then restart but no show black screen from my old monitor maybe it doesn't fit old monitor from my PC. I don't know how it works. I have to take PC to work to find out what went wrong.
Later,
Stuart

I work for Dell. Here's something to try. When you power on your computer start tapping the F12 key over and over until it comes to a menu, from there select diagnostics and then run the tests.
Also if it isn't POSTing(power on self test) that could be either power supply, motherboard, video card, ram. The hard drive will not fail a POST when you first turn it on.
Please try that diagnostic if you can, and post back here. I'll look inside my access to dell to see if I can find more information out for you.

Is it a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 hard drive? If so, see the new thread I created.
