Dear All,
I have been trying to fly using fs9 for a while now, I have a macbook pro 2.53GHZ with windows xp installed, everything was going fine until a couple of months ago, the best quality, and FPS i could ever imagine, but recently I get a problem saying gdipluss.dll fatal error ocurred and FS freezes about ten minutes into the flight and exits. I have squawkbox 4 installed, FSUIPC, ActiveSky, and FSpassengers. I have tried registry cleaners and downloading the file, as well as reinstalling FS2004 clean, I don't know what else to do, and this happens with all of the aircraft I fly. Please help I need to fly and im getting very frustrated that I can't even get one flight done, or even 20 minutes into a flight. Thank you all for your help. I get the following error:
AppName: fs9.exe AppVer: 9.1.0.40901 ModName: gdiplus.dll
ModVer: 5.1.3102.5581 Offset: 00046323
Regards

Daniel, out of curiosity, are you able to find your gdiplus.dll on your machine?
In the event you didn't know, GDI+ is the drawing language for MS-based vector graphics. Also, is there any specific chain of events that lead to this? A particular aircraft from a particular airport along a particular route (etc)?

matt, i am able to fing the gdiplus.dll file in the machine and it is in several folders as well, at first I thought this was only due to a certain aircraft, but I tried with others and it is the same, the problem appears after I connect to Squawkbox as well as start FSpassenger or Activesky, I have reinstalled all of these softawers but the error persists, thank you for the quick response matt.

Don't thank me yet; it's been a few years since I've flown any FS. Are there any error messages? Anything listed in the Event Log?

i was reading on other posts, and it may be due to a faulty fs9.exe file, since i installed the NoCD Patch, but I don't know if this is true should i try it? it also states about fs9.cfg, and dxdiag i nthe notes, but the dx is completley updated and there are no faults there, but what do you think? I have been searching all over the place and there is nothing else, the problem mostily seems to be due when I connect to the internet or start any other application besides FS, since I can fly FS without any other applications during hours.

I suppose it might be possible for your FS9.exe to be corrupt. I wouldn't hold my breath on that though.
As unsavory as the idea may seem, I suggest you start with systematic uninstallation of addons until you isolate it; though perhaps, as you've installed the no-CD patch, you may want to go with a clean installation of FS entirely.

matt, I tried to remove the fs9 no cd patch and back it up with the fs9.exe original but i still get the same mistake of the same .dll file, I don't know whats going on, it is getting very frustrating as I start the flight, log into squawkbox, start ACARS and active sky, about 10 minutes into flight, it freezes and exits showing the above error. I ran a registry report, i had some errors but all are cleaned, so I don't see anymore the problem, I unisnstalled squawkbox, active sky, acars and fspassenger and again installed them. i tried a clean installation two days ago, and everything was fine until connecting to squawkbox or acars, very strange. ill continue trying to figure it out if you can also help me matt, thank you very much about the help matt.

I don't know what to tell you.
So we're on the same page here: when we say a clean installation of FS9, we're talking about complete removal of the program?

yeah matt, i did a clean removal of the program but now i am thinking that maybe this can be an issue that goes deeper maybe into a corrupt file or something within windows xp, because i don't know the origin of the problem, i mean what does gdiplus.dll actually mean and how can one solve that problem, also do you think it may be related to the fs9.cfg file?

Just out of curiosity have you tried to restore your computer to a date before you started having any problems ?
You might give that a try.

also - if you ran the NoCD patch for FS9.0 and you had upgraded to FS9.1, you need the NoCD for 9.1

Andrew makes a good point. You might want to double check that. Do a clean install and forget the noCD patch. It's pointless. See what happens.
Gdiplus.dll is the library that holds all the functions for drawing that Windows uses. I doubt much that it's related to your fs9.cfg, but you can back up your current copy and then delete it. See if that does anything. I believe it's in your Application Data\Microsoft\FS9 folder (somewhere like that anyway).
If your gdiplus.dll file is corrupt, you've probably got larger issues than with strictly FS9 and I'd suggest you do a system restore (format, reinstall windows, etc) if that's the case. You can try replacing the one you've got with a new one: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6a63ab9c-df12-4d41-933c-be590feaa05a&displaylang=en I think it goes in Windows\system32
