I bought the new HD 4870, for my rig. I have the following specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16GHz
G. Skill 4GB RAM @ 1066MHz
Sapphire ATI HD 4870 512MB PCI-E @ 750MHz Core/900MHz Mem
Seagate 640GB Hard Drive @ 7200RPM.
I have settings maxed out all the way. Looks great and runs at 60FPS. One problem is that when I fly I always get micro stutters in FS2004! I have looked all over the internet about this sort of "Power Play" function that moves the Core Clock to 500MHz when not under load. I managed to raise it back to its 750MHz default clock.
Although still to no 100% removal of the stutters, makes FS unplayable. I have tried the .CFG modifications as well.
If I lower my FPS below 60FPS it's a yet bigger stuttering mess. Seems like the card wants it at the Refresh Rate of my screen. I could go up to 85FPS constant but it doesn't remove my stutters.
Any help on this? I want to fly smoothly.

The micro stutters are probably ACARS getting data. Does it happen when ACARS isn't running as well?

Yeah it still happens when ACARS isn't running.
I was thinking of doing a reinstall of my OS. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium x64.
Anybody think that would do the trick? I have 2 User Accounts as well. One for my family and the other for me. I have found on my old rig that having 2 caused stutters. Would it be best to have only 1 user account on my PC?

Ok trying that out now.
EDIT: I did it but there is still very minimal stuttering.
I'm using an LCD monitor as well and I don't know if that would affect my performance.
I'm wondering if there is a setting in the ATI CCC that could help stop this.

I have a 4850 and I don't have a problem. Do you have an updated driver and do you have overdrive engaged?

Hello everyone I have decided to format my HD and reinstall Windows.
I am at 17% Completion at the moment. Hopefully this will fix something that has caused me the stutters.
A new start.
