Still no fix for my stutters problem. I have tried everything:
- Updated Visual Studio C++ to 2008
- Used Overdrive
- Using 9.6 CCC Drivers
- Refresh Rate 75Hz
- DirectX 10.1
- Running Vista x64 SP2
- Running FS at 1280x1024x32 res.
- Have set my power plan to Performance
- UAC ON
- FS2004 at Highest Graphical Settings get 75FPS
- Tweaked FS9.CFG
What are your experiences with this card? Everything would be perfect if I could remove the frequent stutter. It seems to be a common problem among most people.

Having a refresh rate of 75hz may be the problem, You monitor might not be able to handle it.

Just an idea, but i had a similar problem not long ago. I have a fairly high end machine that developed stutters, and it turned out to be a cpu cooling problem due to thermal throtling. I upgraded my heatsink and its smooth running again. slim chance but worth a thought.

Could it be the thermal paste on my CPU? I'm running on the stock HS.
I don't recall stutters on FS when I first used my PC.
I have a 17'' LCD Monitor capable of 75Hz and 1280x1024 res.

Yes, that and a layer of dust which they collect over time.....It was the last thing i would have thought to check...but did the trick..There is a tool you can download to check the cpu temp, I think its called coretemp...Give it ago.

hard to believe your LCD supports 75hz correctly!! i know it's possible by 75hz LCDs are NOT the standard. even though yours may support it, higher does not always mean better. make sure you run at your native res and hz. Try 60fps and 60hz at your native res.
should have nothing to do with stock thermal paste. artic silver or other thermal compound is only necessary if you are OCing and trying to get the best cooling possible. your problem does not sound like a heating problem.

Sorry let me rephrase, If your thermal paste has hardened then this will cause problems as will excess dust...Idealy your core temp should be around 15c - 25c..It stands to reason that if your cpu is running slow then your system will run like a bag of spanners...This is one possible cause of many, but thats what happened to me.

My HD 4850 idles at about 82C, and doesn't attempt to cool down and there is auto fan control with CCC in control so since our GPU's are pretty much the same minus a few speed difference I don't think you should be alarmed if yours is at a temperature like mine, but I would look that up. Also in FS, when you hit shift+z and your framerate comes up is that in the low side or does it read something of 20fps?

My Windows Index Score reads 5.7 at the moment.
5.7 on CPU and the rest is 5.9.
As for the CPU, I don't believe it is a heating problem but I will give it a go.
Might it be that I tweaked my CPU to 3.16GHz Manually? Intel Speed Boost or whatever it's called was activated so I decided to go in and disable it myself from the BIOS.
How could I reset my bios to the default settings?

If thats your cpu core temp then thats your problem...If you search the web for your cpu data sheet it'll give your temp ranges......Mine was hitting 80c and slowing the frequency to save heat thus causing the stuttering..Is your sound affected aswell ??

My sound is fine.
Although I have re-disabled EIST and CE1.
So would you recommend buying a new heatsink and fan?

the temps do look high. did you install the processor and oem heatsink fan yourself? if it was a prebuilt then you may expect an overly thick thermal paste. artic silver may help if that is the case.

What Heatsink would you guys recommend?
Upon enabling EIST and C1E I was starting off at 66*C and then it kept climbing to 88*C!
I will take a trip to Fry's Electronics Tommorow.
I was looking at these online:
http://www.frys.com/search?search_type=suggest&query_string=Heatsink+OR+Fan+
I never thought that CPU heating could be the problem. Well I'm hoping that after fixing this I'll be stutter free on FS.

I bought this one, not expensive even in the uk !! And works a treat. Although i dont overclock, these are supposed to be capable to handle it. Hope you get your problems solved.

Probably not your heatsink whose to blame. When you overclock a system like yours, liquid cooling is the best way to go, otherwise, you want a nice powerful fan and good paste. The stock heatsink should be fine!

Hi Daniel,
I used to own one of those cards with that would refresh the screen all the time. I dont know if this is what you mean by stutter.
However the prolem was solved by downloading and updating the firmware of the card from the manufacturers website.
The card was an XFX Radeon 4870 1GB
hope this helps you out

Thanks I downloaded the new 9.7 CCC Drivers yesterday. Didn't do much but actually found out that it was my CPU that was overheating. That was the cause of my problem.
All fixed now. No stutters just FPS jumps when I load a high detailed plane like the CS757.
