I was wondering if anyone could help me. First off, here is my rig...
Mobo: MSI 533 Mhz FSB
Video: GeForce4 TI4200 64MB
Sound: Audigy 2 Gamer
RAM: 500 MB DDR
Processor: Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
Ok, with that said, can anyone help me out in figuring out why I only get 3-5 fps with sound on, 7-12 fps sound off, and it makes no difference if AA is on or off, and sliders all the way down. I would think my performance would be greater than this, and yes I've tried default a/c with the same result. There has got to be something I'm missing, hopefully. Anyway if anyone would take the time to help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

Oh yeah, the GeForce4 TI4200 is 8x AGP which is supported by my MOBO.

I am guessing that you are running 2004. Anyway, I have heard similiar complaints to your's with poeple who have the same spec. computer's as your's too. I am not sure what you are able to do. Do you have all settings maxed out?

I am, contrary to what my signature says, Chris Hill. I've been meaning to get that corrected but haven't had the time with classes and stuff. Anyway, the settings are all down, but honestly when I adjust them, it doesn't seem to make any difference. And yes I'm running MSFS9 and Windows XP Pro

Currently it's set at target 20 fps. Thanks for all the quick responses and help, this is one of the many reasons in joining this VA, it's such a close knit group.

Get a bigger video card. I'm running the Radeon 9800 Pro 128 and it works like a charm. Do you need the 256mb cards? Well, yeah and no. Some of the 128mb cards (such as the Radeon 9800 Pro 128) out runs the Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb in some areas.
You need as much Front Bus Ram as you can get and you should be fine. With my setup: 2.2GHz, 768mb DDRAM, Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb and with FS9 I receive between 10-25 on the ground (depending what view) and 25+ in the air.
All in all, FS9 is cpu intensive and requires as much ram as possible.

Thanks all for the help. After going to the aforementioned link, I decided to flash my BIOS. Well in order to do it, I figured I'd uninstall McAfee virus scan, and doing so shot my fps through the roof. Turns out it was eating practically all my processor speed and my system as a whole was just sluggish. Know everything is maxed and I'm getting 19-20 on the ground. Thanks all for the help and I'll see you in the air.

Great to hear, I was going to say uninstall and reinstall the video driver, I had to do that recently because of the same problem.

there is an mutch easier solution to this problem. try searching google for something called FS2004 FPS fix. this fix gave me an fps increase from 3-8 fps to 15-20 fps! and my specs are: P4 2,0ghz ,512 pc3200 400mhz ddr ram, geforce 4 mx440 64 mb, with an 7200rpm s-ata harddisk.
hope you find the file's, and if you not give me your e-mail and I will send the files.

I recommend AVG over any antivirus software. Norton and McAfee hurts your perfomance extremely.
