Hello everyone, right now my computer at my moms house is good (geforce 9800gt, 4gb ram, intel core 2 duo) then my computer at my dads is bad (geforce 5600, 1gb ram) and I really hate downloading FS stuff on two computers. So I really want to get a laptop! I know those gaming ones cost like 2000 which is way over my price range..
Anyways, I was wondering if any of you played FS on a laptop if so which one and how much does it cost? And by any chance do you know what I could get for my good computer, I custom built for like $350...
Thanks so much

I have a Dell Latitude 131L, it will not run FSX but will run FS9 with add on scenery and payware aircraft pretty well.

I've got a HP G60 that I picked up at Best Buy for around 550. It runs FSX with the LDS 767 just fine. I just have to keep the scenerey set to low.

Andrew, that's out of his price range :).
http://www.ibuypower.com - is easilly the best place to buy cheap, high end laptops! The 15" PC that can run FSX just fine and dandy in JFK with PMDG 747 and very high scenery settings is only 1,300 bucks.

He asked who uses a laptop. So I responded with what I use, he never mentioned to only list it if it was in his price range.
"Anyways, I was wondering if any of you played FS on a laptop if so which one and how much does it cost?"
Thanks,

I'm going to attempt to play flight sim at college next year, bought an HP that I know will run FS9, don't really care about FSX, havn't had the time to install everything, and you could get a macbook starting at $999, might find it a little cheaper through a store other than Apple.

I recently started using a 13inch macbook pro and you can pick one up for $1199 and $1099 if you are a student. The screen is a bit small for fs (I still mainly use my old desktop) but you cannot beat the portability on a machine with this much power.

I use a laptop. 3GB RAM, 1GB graphics card, 160GB hard drive. Just got it today. FS is REALLY smooth from what I've seen so far. I believe my parents got it at Wal-Mart for $298 on tax free weekend. Very affordable.

Great topic!, I for the longest was a huge laptop fan. I thought they were the greatest thing and that was the future. I used to brag that I gamed on a laptop, but after many hard drive failures and a mother board failure, and many dollars later I could have just bought a desk top and had far fewer problems. I have done more disaster recovery's than I care to think about. Lap tops are not worth it for gaming, dollar for dollar you get more power for less money in a desk top and my next computer will be a desk top as I want sped and reliability, not the monthly disaster recovery.
I humbly admit Laptop aren't the best for gaming, and based on the numerous problems and money wasted, no more laptops.

Ok, here's what I came up with. Everything appears to be good to me, however I have no idea what the standard Ghz is for a laptop.
I customized the computer myself, but downgrades/upgrades can be made. I just went with what I'm used to.
I can't give a link, as it is customized, but if you like where the specs are going, you can find it by going to the link below.
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_series.do?storeName=computer_store&category=notebooks&series_name=dv6t_series&a1=Category&v1=Performance%20and%20entertainment
I was able to customize it to what I thought were good specs for a total cost of $945. You can try playing arround with the specs yourself and hopfully find something you like.
Oh, by the way, you can take about $35 off if you don't get a fingerprint reader. I was just having some fun with that
So here are the specs. Remember, they can be changed arround a bit while still staying in your price range.
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P7350 (2.0GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
• FREE Upgrade to 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
• FREE Upgrade to 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
• 512MB ATI Radeon(TM) HD 4530 Graphics
• 16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Brightview Display (1366x768)
• LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
• Webcam + Fingerprint Reader (welcome back, Mr. Bond)
Hope that can be of assistance.

The scarry thing about laptops is they have a high rate of hard drive failure, I've gon through 6 hard drives and this makes me opt for a desk top in my next computer, that and desk tops are just better for gaming and dollar for dollar less expensive.

The LT that my wife and I use is a couple of years old, and runs FSX at lowest settings for the most part just fine. We bought it for like 600 bucks brand new a couple years ago. It doesn't match my gaming PC which had absolutely the best hardware money could buy a couple years ago also, but it does it's job when I'm not at home and need to fly.
