Hey, I've just found this page about Aerosoft which seems to develop an all new Flight Simulator with the FS community. Anybody aware of more relevant news?

That would be great if everything was backwards compatable as if I have to start all over again, forget it.

...and why would we need anything more than FSX? As much money and time I have into MSFS I wouldn't think of changing platforms.

uhm... they let know, they would try to build a new FS with the help and remarks of the FS community. It might stay at a slightly lower hardware level... what happens when the establish their own FS and continue manufacturing products only for their version on a realistic frame perfmance...

I have to agree with Jason, and Michael on this one. People have alot of coin tied up in FS9 and FSX. I think any company that wants to step up and develope a FS program will have to go through the growing pains just as MS did.
I'm always willing to take a look at something new, but I too have alot invested in FS9 and FSX. Perhaps in the not so distant future Aerosoft will have the hot new FS program.

I would hope they would build in backwards compatibility or they guarantee failure as people are tired of buying the latest new thing just because.

About the only way I think this would work is if they made it compatible with FS9 and FSX addons. Or even just FSX. Otherwise, forget it. I droped too much into FSX and some associated addons to start over.

I remember reading that Aerosoft said that it would be impossible to have any FS products directly move to the new sim, because of licensing issues. They said that they are thinking of making an application that would port the addons over.

So I have to buy the sim then the application to move everything over?, unless it has outstanding graphics and performance, I'm not moving.
