For those of you flying the puddle-jumper, watch yourself on the pre-takeoff checks:
I noticed that, when getting ready for takeoff, if you engage the autopilot Command switch (without anything like ALT, AT, HDG, etc being on) that the AP will trim your aircraft full Aircraft Nose Up. This could make for a very interesting takeoff indeed. You would expect that the CMD switch would only engage systems you Told it to, like HDG, ALT, etc but apparently the CMD switch works your pitch trim even though ALT HOLD is not enabled.
I know your not supposed to engage the AP until in flight but if you accidentally switch it on pre-takeoff, watch out.
It's a fun bird to fly, but not without its peculiarities

Hmm interesting. Nice catch though. Should have an alarm for trim. I know the MADDOG 2008 has an alarm if the trim moves more than like 2degrees per couple seconds or something like that a horn will sound. Good for runaway trim tab but bad for setting trim before flight!

hmmmm, have never seen the need to even engage the AP on the 120. It is far more fun to fly that one by hand.

Use the checklist, where you turn it on and turn it right back off to check and make sure you do not do what you did! It does make a noise, it says "AUTOPILOT" when you turn it off

Ive tried the fleet E-120, and I dont like the panel. Found a better one on avsim, but it takes a bit more micromanagement to fly, but seems to act better for me.

The DVA EMB 120ER panel was developed to be used to teach people how to fly.....it is a combination of many panels, guages and switches....some of the instruments are bigger than normal, etc etc.....

Copy that Scott. I remember the first time I bought up the RWYINFO panel I thought I went blind! It took up like half my screen before resizing!
