what would be some great specs to run fs2004, cause i see these photos on the image gallary and the plane and ground and buildings are unbeable. when i go to the out side view, my plane has great textures but sometime the comp lags.

Whats your budget? Do you need a monitor too or just a new computer? Are you wanting to build your own or purchase a complete computer?

Matthew,
If you're talking upgrade/purchase, budget matters. It's not hard these days to find a computer that will run FS9 well. FSX is another story. But for FS9, it shouldn't take more than a simple $200-500 upgrade to run FS9 well, depending where you are now.
And now that I'm taking a financial class, I'm sorta in the mood for budget lol but if you don't have a budget, get one, and include part of it for new computer/computer upgrades! At least 2% but no more than 10% depending on your income, and you might have one by the end of the year.

I would suggest a fast dual core cpu and 9800GT video card for FS9

I recommend a dual-core that can be overclocked easily. I don't think a quad-core gets you much more performance in FS2004. I built my current system to run FS2004 and I think it does as well as one can expect:
Intel E8500 Core 2 Duo (overclocked it to 4.2 GHz)
EVGA 790i Ultra Mobo (overclocks well)
EVGA GTX260 Video Card (overclock it too)
WD Caviar Black 640GB HDD
With sliders to the right, WOAI traffic at 80%, and PMDG 747 at FS Dreamteam KJFK I don't get lower than 30 FPS. I lock the frames at 50 and it usually stays there unless I am into some heavy scenery.

Uhh, Jim... You should be running FSX with that kind of a system! I'd kill to have that kind of a system with the way I have FSX tweaked, I could see 50 fps.

Well thats my system. It runs FS9 to MY standards (some of you know what I mean by MY ) like a dream. It will run FSX almost to my standards, however I'm currently in the process of tweaking everything to get it to run like no other to my viewing standards. People often ask "Well whats a good system for FS9 or whats a good system for FSX." Well it all depends on what kind of performance and visuals you want. I mean a low clocked Core 2 Duo with a 8600GTS 256mb could run FS9 perfectly on low settings. Heres a link to my photobucket http://photobucket.com/westonwoodward . The shots you will see are a heavily tweaked and modded FS9, and with my system I never see less than 70FPS on average.

And let me specify that. I get 70+ with the frames unlocked. For normal flight I usually lock it at around 30-60 depending on my mood and if I'm testing stuff out or not
