hey, I've actuve sky x, and when im cruising along at 33,000 feet, the winds suddenly swap sometimes 100 degress instantly! I'm also running fs passengers, and when the wind swaps on my I sometimes go past VNE... there go 300 points on fsp! Does anyone know how I would be able to do something to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance!

this is a well known and documented problem with FSX and all weather addons.
ASA is a little better, and ASA coupled with the registered version of FSUIPC is better still. This is because FSUIPC offers wind smoothing options.
I left active sky completely because of this problem and now use REX. I've never had sever windshifts with REX. I still get a wind shift every once in awhile, but never the catastrophic wind shifts that I was seeing with ASA/ASX.

do you find that the real time weather thats genrated by REX is like ASX? ASX is really quite good i think, in terms of the cloud layering and density of clouds. the only thing i find wrong about it is the winds, everything else is brilliant.

The textures on REX are unbelieveable (far better than AS and actually inceased my FPS). The weather that's actually generated is not as true-to-life as ASA was. In the beginning I actually installed the REX textures but continued using ASA. Unfortunately the 100kt+ windshifts are a deal breaker and once REX 2.0 came out and their weather generation got better I completely switched and havent touched AS since.
If it werent for the gargantuan wind shifts I would still be using ASA along with the REX textures.

Never seen this "200kt" wind changes you speak of. The wind will never shift that much unless a front is moving through, if that is the case, then be prepared for wind shear anyways

I've seen it as well and it plays havoc with the PMDG MD-11 AP.

Yes it happens with me. I use REX2 and Active Sky X. REX2 Weather Engine does the samething when I use it.

uh I had that problem on the last maddog madness flight with AS6 in FS9. For some reason I'm humming long just fine and then WHAMO the airspeed goes to zero plane starts falling FMS has a hissy fit. Then WHAMO back to normal but I've climbed and or descended 2k feet. Controllers are probably wondering what on Earth is that guy doing! Maybe I stick to Real Enviro to generate wx for that reason.

Set the rate of weather change in FSX down to the lowest setting before no change and choose the enable wind smoothing in ASX. I haven't had any issues after doing that.
