Hello Guys,
I have an issue. I'm a CS 757 user, and as we know there customer service isn't the greatest so I thought I'd turn to you guys for some potential advice. When I copy a route into the DVA Route Plotter, the save and all goes well. However when I select it from my CDU the waypoints show up as latitude and longitude. But if I "hand jam" those shame points they show just fine....any ideas on whats going on here?

Justin, the only thing I can think of is this. The AIRAC cycle for FS is extremly outdated, and there is no way to update it. So when you save the route using the route plotter, the only way it works is by entering the waypoint using LAT and LONG. However, on the CS 757 you can update the AIRAC info, and I'm guessing you've done that, so it will show the name of all current waypoints.

Kevin is correct! The route plotter we have at DVA saves the majority of waypoints as LAT/LONG coordinates for FS to read since FS9 and even FSX have extremely outdated AIRACs. So in reality, you are importing into the FMC exactly what is on FS, the LAT/LONG coordinates. That's why it works if you type in the waypoints with an updated AIRAC in the FMS.

Kevin yes, I just recently updated it. So just so I'm making sure I have this correct. Even when I upload the flightplan into the FMC with the update AIRAC, it's still going to show lat and long? Is there some way around this? (I understand you said I cant update the FS Airac, but say a different site or something) I get my routes from the RW flights using flight aware.... Thank you both Kevin and Nicholas for your responses

Justin, no there is no way to update the FS AIRAC data. Microsoft did not build that feature into it. What I would recomend doing is, if you fly a route fairly often, after you enter it into the FMC, save it. Then you can pull it up as a company route in RTE page. That will show the waypoint names instead of coordinates. But otherwise, just get used to manually entering your route data. Thats what I do, and even though it takes awhile (you try filling out the LEGS page for ATL-NRT!), you get used to it.

"try filling out the LEGS page for ATL-NRT!"
Use the RTE page and it will save you the time of looking up the individual points for jet airways, upper routes, etc...

Nicholas, I already knew that man. I just perfer looking it up and entering them in. This way, if I'm cleared by ATC direct to a certain waypoint, I've already got an idea where they're clrearing me to and where it is on my FMC LEGS page. Just a personal quirk. But I'll bet some ppl didn't know you could do that, so good point.
