Hey Guys,
I just installed Windows 7 Home Premium, and so far I haven't noticed a difference. Actually, I think vista ran faster! I want Windows 7 to fun even faster, and be great- any ideas on why it may be slowing down? I did a clean install, and my comp. is more than qualified to handle fs9 or fsx. Also, I have been trying to get the anti-aliasing to work, but i still keep seeing blurries. I have tried nhancer, and nothing works!!!
Thanks,
Jeff

I think the differences are more pronounced on older machines which may be why my W7 box runs WAY faster than FS9. I'm not sure what could be slowing you down, maybe chipset drivers?

Do not trust advertising. W7 is using the same Vista kernel. There is no place for significant improvements in speed or something else.

There are 64 bit vs. 32 bit compatibility issues because of which your system can be even slower than XP/Vista on Windows 7.
The net is full of details. Google around and just take care that you have addressed those concerns.

actually the kernel has been cleaned out and slimmed down by quite a lot in W7 there are very few similarities between the two kernels

The great thing is - like every single version of every single software - It's going to have winners and losers. Some machines will run great, some won't...sone will be faster, some won't...FSX is Great, FSX is terrible...
My own philosophy is to wait just a bit until the glitches are known for the most part - the developer has released it's first or second SP and then get it.

Jeff it would be usefull if u post ur PC specs, any hardware installing issues, etc.
Nikolay, i have tried Win 7 beta for 5 months. It was million times faster than my other Vista PC. Specs r same.
Win 7 kernel, is basicly Vista's. Bur instead of building a new one they it improved it.
Im not gonna purchase it now, im gonna wait till some FSX & Win 7 reviews are published.

So far, I think my PC is faster, although not breathtakingly so. I did a clean install from XP to W7, so that probably accounts for a lot of the improvement. I don't think that my startup is any faster, but I haven't gotten around to doing any tweaking.
BTW, not sure how "clean" that upgrade was--after I was done, some of my old subdirectories I had in XP under C: were still there.

Jack, one thing you'll notice with W7 is that after several months of use, the speed never seems to get worse like XP did. Clean isntalls of XP were rocket fast but after 8 months of use, installing, patching, upgrading it seems XP would get slugish. I haven't noticed that with W7.
It's strange because I feel like a Microsoft evangelist bun in general I'm not their biggest fan!

That's good to hear....the slowdown over time in XP did get annoying....but it made me a genius amongst my friends. I would come over to their house and an hour later their systems were humming along like rockets
