Ok, after my saga with reinstalling FS, I went radical on this machine. I wiped both drives, completely clean, reformatted and started from scratch. Installed Windows, then FS, then some add-ons. Tried to use the Lvl-D 767 service pack, it errors out saying lvld.dll or some such has no information. Real Environment Pro hangs during file back-ups. CFS3 hangs on the very first file it tries to install. I'm getting messages that the computer has successfully installed my onboard ethernet card EVERY TIME I restart the computer. I had to prompt it to find the driver for my monitor which it has never done before.
I have checked the disks in other computers, and they are OK. All the cables inside the case looked fine. Nothing really seemed out of the ordinary. Everything was seated correctly, tightened down. Both sets of drive diagnostics said the HDD's are good, only a few bad sectors that got fixed.
So, is my machine dead? Would putting an newIDE card just be prolonging the inevitable on a 4+ year old Mobo?

Then why is CFS not installing? Why does my comp say that it has installed the network card every time I reboot? Why does Real Environment Pro hang during installs? I didn't ask why the level-d service pack didn't install, it's a symptom of a bigger problem described in the title of the post, which it seems like you didn't even thoroughly read! I am asking if my motherboard is fubar'ed, not my Level-D install!

I almost never see corrupted DLLs. I'm surprised people are so quick to blame them.
Yes, Brian, you do appear to have some serious issues, either with your motherboard or some other hardware component. Have you tried running memtest and prime95 to ensure your RAM is working reliably? The continual NIC driver reinstalls are an ominous sign that your motherboard is bad.
Cheers!

I'll give that a shot Luke. I'm not holding out a lot of hope for this machine, it's such a mix mash of parts, I knew that it wasn't going to have a really long life.

Well, Prime95 ran for almost 7 hours without failing yesterday (on the hardest settings) so I think the memory itself is fine. It's definitely something on the board.

I was having the same problem. It turned out to be my MacAfee. It was erasing certain files for the LDS bc it thought it was a Trojan.
