I've been experiencing freezes in the 2D panel of the Level D 767 at my monitor's native resolution of 1680x1050 every time i click or go into the Level D menu. I've seen numerous post in the Level D forum of this problem and many said
they solved it by updating DirectX. One fact about this problem is that it only occurs in wide screen resolution from 1680x1050 and above. If I were to change to a lower resolution everything works fine but any other resolution beside
1680x1050 on my monitor looks terrible. Also I have the latest DX which is DX11 and still have this problem. Note that this began occurring on a fresh install of vista and FS9. Before I had Vista Ultimate 64bit SP2 and DX10 and never had
this problem. So I'm suspecting DX11. Problem is I can't install an older version of DX or even uninstall the current DX without doing a complete re-installation of windows. Moments like these makes me so sick of windows! I've tried various
video card drivers, messed around with nhancer everything I could think of but with no success. This problem is really getting on my last nerves and Level D has not provided any "real" answers to my post in their forum. They simply
stated "Install DX9" after I made it clear that I'm using windows Vista Ultimate 64bit......very very very sad. If anyone has a possible solution for this problem please share. I'm desperate for the Level D!

Install that, it will update your existing DX9 which is still on Vista or 7. Your using a 9800GTX and doesn't even support DX11. Flight Sim 2004 is DX9 and will still use it even in Vista or 7 along with any other DX9 apps.

The Level-D 2D cockpit is not widescreen compatible as far as I know, try bumping down the resolution.

That shouldn't cause a hang - I've been using the LDS767 on a wide screen for years.
Cheers!

I have DX11 and just loaded up my LD 767. No errors. I'm using a samsung widescreen and at any resolution I've got no problems. I think you have a error that isn't related to DX11. I've tried it on both computers now. One thats running XP Pro and the other running Vista Ultimate but 32 bit. Dunno if that helps but I'm thinking you possibly have a bad install of FS or the LD767

I found the solution!!!!!! I downloaded the latest Visual C++ which is the 2010 Beta2
version. After I downloaded this and installed it there were no more freezes in the 2D panel at my
monitor's native resolution 1680x1050. Now I'm off to do a long haul!

If you're using Win 7, 64-bit, must you use the C++ 64 version? In other words, is the version related to the OS or to the programs that take advantage of C++ ?

The OS. You must use the 64-bit if you have a 64-bit OS.
