i am currently using a hp pavilion a1710n i checked the product specifications and it is said that it can take a maximum of 4gb with 4x1 so does it mean i can only buy 1 gb for one slot or a 2gb , whichever as long as i keep it under 4gb in total , also i would like to know wit h the video card is it connected to the motherboard and is it easy for someone to change with my model

Gerhardt, saying it can take a maximum of 4gb with 4x1 is because at the time it, that was probably the most advanced technology. If your motherboard supports it, you can get up to 4 3GB sticks and even 4 4GB sticks of RAM. With the a1710n, it's using integrated graphics. You can put in an actual graphics card if your motherboard has a slot for it.

You dont necessarily need to change anything - if you use FSInn, my only suggestion would be to turn off the high resolution model option and set the multi-player range to 10nm.

I suggest you upgrade your CPU first and foremost. Then RAM, then video card. It looks like your motherboard has one PCI Express x16 graphics slot so your options are limited to the high 7000 series, majority of 8000 series, and low 9000 series for an Nvidia card. I highly recommend this one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500072
RAM is at your choice on this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010170147%201052108080&name=240-Pin%20DDR2%20SDRAM - page. Make sure to look for "PC2-4200" in parentheses or it will not be compatible with your motherboard.
You are limited to just AMD processors on your motherboard, and even further limited to CPU's of this nature - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103716 - being only up to 5000+ on the number. I recommend you keep what you have and overclock it.

The next cross the pond event will be held sometime next year, this time heading westbound. I have no idea of an exact date.

Anthony, I think you are confusing that with "Cross the pond Westbound." Which should be sometime around March 2010 or so.

4 or 6GB, depending on how cheap you can find compatible RAM.
