Hi, I am using a throttle quadrant and no matter what I try, the same engin lacks the capacity to go to full throttle. It gets stuck at about 78% as the other accelerates. On the A320 it eventually kicked in but refused completely on the ATR-72. The engine that sticks spools up faster but just stops. I have never had this problem with my throttle quadrant in FSX. The kneeboard is another FS9 problem only. I can't get it to go away. It just keeps flashing through the pages and when I click the x, it just pops back up and keeps going through the pages. If it helps, I chose the minimum installation because of memory issues. I have never seen this even in my FS9 only days. Please help. I think I am going to crazy!

What throttle quadrant?
Are you using a registered version of FSUIPC?
Maybe you need to check your default keyboard/throttle/joystick settings and reset them to default

Hey Nick, I don't have that Saitek Pro Throttle but I have a few other Saitek products that have the ability to use the Saitek programming software. If the throttle quadrant is the same way, you may want to try downloading it and using the control panel within the software to check that the lever is advancing all the way, to make sure it's not a hardware or Saitek driver issue, just in case.

The SST software isn't the best in the world...FSUIPC is a program that allows other programs and hardware to talk to FS. You can program each and every button, clikc, twist, push, pull, full - reverse, etc on any device.
The SST software should have come with your quadrant. If not:

I checked it with the Saitek control panel. It is advancing all the way. I was confused about what to do with the SST software so I didin't touch it. I reistalled the fleet ATR-72 (not the only plane with this problem, its all of them just needed a guinea pig) and added the fsuipc on the download. Still the same problem. I hit alt and clicked on FSUIPC on the modules tab. It said something about registering the FSUIPC but I didn't know what the where the product key was. Any other suggestions? I am inclined to believe that its the fact I couldn't get the FS9 to completely download and had to reserve some to the disc 4 because my computer has so little internal memory. If I get the new hard drive I am hoping for for Christmas, I will reinstall but fully and try again.

You have to purchase FSUIPC - the version with the Fleet Installers is the freeware version that has limited programming fuctions. You can get the full version here:
http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
As far as HDs, I ended up putting a drive in for FS9 and for FSX specficially
I can't imagine that low memory would affect your throttle ops.
When you say "...believe that its the fact I couldn't get the FS9 to completely download..." Are you/did you not install FS9 from the discs?

I downloaded it from the discs, 4 total. What I meant was, I had to choose the minimum installation that left some of the program on the fourth disc. Yes, this was a legal copy bought at Best Buy. These problems have only just developed and it has got me stumped why. I prefer FSX infinitely over FS9, but knowing now that I can't fly half the fleet is really bugging me.

Oh, by the way, I still can't get rid of the kneeboard. That is why I believe it is an FS issue, not a Saitek issue.

Not that this would help, but have you tried in both full screen and windowed mode (for the kneeboard issue)

No. I will try. The knee board problem has gotten so bad it causes the simulator to stutter because it is going so fast. I had a couple of times where it would go away for a few minutes but it always came back. Another problem with the engines now. The bad engine now doesn't even respond at all. It is stuck in idle. I will try the windowed view (even though I can't stand it). I tried switching which lever controlled which engine on the throttle quadrant but still the same engine had troubles. I think that this practically confirms that this is an FS issue.

Umm. No. And I can't because I was going to try to reinstall so I uninstalled but now I can't install. I have uninstalled before and I never had a problem reinstalling. Everytime I try to I get an error message saying "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 needs ot modify the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\fs9.exe which is currently in use by another application. Quit any open applications and then click retry." I tried to delete this but I keep getting an access denied message.

I made it through disc 1 by continuing to click ignore about seven times before it kept going. Now I am stuck on disc two where there isn't an ignore option. The message is "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 needs to modify the file C:\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Modules\ALBSCPT.DLL, which is currently in use by another application. Quit any open applications, then click Retry."

Before you try and reinstall again, reboot. Probably FS9.EXE is still running. If your kneeboard is constantly reappearing you've probably mapped something to F10 (or whatever the control is in FS9) which is causing it to reappear.
Cheers!

I was able to get FS reinstalled, and the kneeboard has stopped flashing, but I still can't get engine one to kick out of idle. I will try setting everything to default and then trying again. I have a feeling that I will be hosed if I still can't get it to work.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Success!!!!!!!!!! I didn't even have to set everything to default. Ok, I know this sounds dumb but, I ended up clicking on a random button labeled "sensitivites" and the engine one throttle axis was set to zero. I turned it up and now I am back in action. (Sorry for the all caps but for a moment I saw a world without FS flashing before my eyes.) Thanks you so much. You guys are the greatest.

Nicholas, I would have suggested that, but got in too late before you found the source of the problem.
I have two of these quadrants with a total of 6 levers (left to right) Speedbrake/Throttle #1/#2/#3/#4 and flaps
Be aware that there is a button on the bottom of each lever that you CAN'T see. It's engaged when you drop the (any lever) below the idle detent. I use this button, on the #2 engine lever, to engage reverse thrust. Go to assignments, pick your throttle quadrant, and where the F2 command is (Decrease thrust quickly), set that assignment to one of the detents. In addition, move the repeat slider all the way to the right.
Your kneeboard issue is happening because one of the buttons on the quadrant is set to display/hide the kneeboard and is repeating quickly. I found this out the hard way.
Best thing to do is to go to assignments, select your quadrant and make every button point to something useless (like ADF freq +/-). Point them ALL to this same thing since, in it's default setting, the buttons are allocated to all kinds of goofy things you don't want them acting on (like the kneeboard).
Once you've done this, only then go back and assign them to something more meaningful.
You have a total of NINE buttons on each throttle quadrant. 1 each below each lever detent, then (with the buttons on the front of the unit), UP, UP, UP and DOWN, DOWN, DOWN.
I have the buttons below my thrust levers (on the front) set to (when UP), engine start and when I press them DOWN they activate the fuel shutoffs for that engine. You can set it up any way you want though.
Hope this helps a little!
